Factory Works C2.1 Carbon Fiber Build

Post by GoMachV »

This is a build for a customer, I'm still finishing it. I have to say, as much as I hate Carbon Fiber, it sure looks nice!

Looks sweet Jeff. I'm working on getting my C2.1 stood up on it's wheels. Finally got all the shock parts, just need some screws to do the job!

The titanium was colored by Kelly Lunsford. I stopped by at just the right time, he was doing a batch of blue for an aviation company. He doesn't do the car stuff, but he did a set for me

It's an interesting procedure, similar to anodizing but different. It's in an acid bath, and depending on the acid mixture and the voltage you will get different colors, which is what he is talking about. These were around 25 volts.

Wow

Really like what you did with the battery strap, the rear part. So it's the screw, cool things washer, a nut of some sort? as a stop for the battery? The slot in the strap makes it adjustable?

Yes, exactly. The nut that you can't see is a short blue post

The customer wants to run his esc in behind the battery, so he wanted the shorty strap to allow room for it. It's going to be close still

The XX-YZ body has a neat scoop for the esc, I would have put it on the side rail myself

I like carbon. But I'm not a person of colors. I think it would look even better in a natural titanium and aluminum finish. Still cool stuff though!

Carbon and blue alloy, what's not to like?!?!?

Still shocked though that some people are actually asking someone else to build such a car for them... Do they really deserve owning such a beauty? not sure... :?

I know it's none of my business, but why put the servo arm ballstud inside the servo arm (on the right) and not outside? That'd get the turnbuckle a bit more lined-up wouldn't it?

He has been a good customer so I don't ask questions I just cash the checks

The servo arm is just my preference. It's closer to being inline than it appears, and would be better if used with a servo saver which is how it was laid out. I personally prefer to mount the rod on the back side from a geometry standpoint.

Jeff, Do you think the Associated #9614 B4 Interceptor body would be a good fit for the C2.1?

I can't say, I have never had one to test fit. The XXYZ body fits well, so I'd say most XX bodies would be a good fit. If I can find a b4 body somewhere I'll see if it would clear.

The B4 Interceptor body will work. You will need to cut two slots in the front for the nose brace tubes to clear. It's a little short on the sides but that is easy to fix by adding a strip of lexan to the bottom.
