Bumping an old thread here, RJ gifted me this project quite a few years ago. I’ve finally started checking what parts it will need, have just ordered new re-pro belts and a couple used upper bulkheads. I’ve made a parts list but the whole slipper is going to be a challenge I think. Will get some Fibre Lyte towers as RJ mentioned earlier in the thread, a re-pro body, some pink wheels from JC as well I reckon. Gonna be slow progress I suspect but will update this thread I think as it is this particular car

I’ve reached out to BezerkRC to see if they can produce shock towers and Battery Strap. I don't have CAD drawings of the parts so may be a challenge. Would rather source them locally so hope they can come through

Looking good for Bezerk to produce the carbon parts I need, a good result

Picked up some parts today from a shop nearby (RJ knows it well) - 30% off too so even better

Also, it seems I have part of the slipper already with the pulleys both present, although the front has a one way system. Was this normal or a hop up, I cant see the one-way assembly in the manual

So all I think i need as far as slipper goes is the Inner and Outer Plates ZM-672-1 and 2, and a spur ZM-P84, which all seem unobtainable at present.

The parts in the top pic will nearly build the rear diff, just need thrust bearing balls and washers, and the weird ZD-508 diff screw (Which has a bend in it??) and washers.

Can anyone confirm if the ZC507 thrust bearing is the same as the ZS507 from the MR4? Or even same as any others out there?

I’ve stripped the car down, finding some other issues as I go  . One thing, one of the shock ends looks more like a rod end from the top links, Does anyone know are the shock ends exclusive, or will something from another model work?

I've been in regular contact with BezerkRC, for those interested they have now added the carbon parts to their website, available in plain weave in both gloss and matte, or twill weave in matte. Paul is still working on the battery strap so that will be added soon.

That's great news about the parts, have you ordered them yet?

Not yet, will wait for the last part to be finalised. Gave Paul the last bit of info he needed for it, so should be added soon

Are you going to assemble it as you go or wait till you get all the parts before putting it together?

I may not ever be able to assemble it if I wait for all the parts as the ZM672-1 and ZM672-2 inner and outer slipper plates are proving impossible to find. Still need to do a bit of work on the chassis plate with some polish, and waiting on some critical components to arrive, then I may be able to make a start

Well, today was an awesome day as far as parts for the MX-4 go. I went back to the LHS who I got the parts above from, as I found I needed a couple other parts that they had in stock, and whilst searching through the box of “ZM” parts, I spotted something, and then I spotted something else. There right in front of me were the elusive ZM-672 1 and 2’s. I couldn’t believe my luck, I’ve been checking Buyee Japan Yahoo Auctions daily as well as anywhere else that may have parts without luck. Was starting to think that getting some machined was going to be my only option….Not anymore thankfully.

Getting closer to assembly

Image

Whilst the underside of the chassis is in very good condition, the topside not so much. Electronics had been CA glued in place, and using acetone, I was able to remove it all, but the chassis was well marked up underneath the CA (probably to help with adhesion I guess). I’ve attempted some light wet sanding, but cant really go any further. Electronics placement will cover most of the damage, so I’ll leave as is for now. Installed the first parts onto the chassis after giving them a nice polish
