I thought it may have been done on a lathe, but you can see vertical lines running from the top to the base where the body would sit. That would have to be machined or injection molded. I'm waiting to hear back from a couple of folks, we'll see what they have to say.

The search for sparkle carbon fibre is going well, just waiting for a quote and availability. Will use the template in Kenooze's thread to hand make a sample.

they were probably black delrin. it looks taller than a factory mount that has been modified.

the stock body mounts machine quite well, just need super sharp tool bits.

Sourced the sparkle carbon fibre! Woohoo! The question is, do I buy extra in case I need to make more shock towers in the future :?:

I already have my next project in mind  that would need some of this....just how much is what I need to figure out.

So happy to be back into RC! Love building stuff!

Just received my Associated hardware order. Not exactly thrilled with the blue screws and nuts. The shade of blue is a little dark compared to the pictures of Kinwald's build.

Can anyone suggest a place to get screws and nuts anodized in custom colours?

Kinwald back in the day used trinity hardware and it was lighter blue. Try faster express.

Progress is being made, but slow. Just when I think I can start building I notice another detail of the original.

Bulkhead trimmed and 6565 black tranny sourced. Still not happy wi the dark blue screws, so I'm working on a source for some Trinity ones.

Here's a shot of the iridium infused graphite that's on the way. Regular graphite is coming from China.

So here I sit, twiddling my thumbs, waiting for parts to arrive....the problem with this, is it gives me time to think of my next project

I think if you are going to go this deep into making a Kinwald replica, I would ditch the milled tub.

Funny you mentioning that, I was thinking the same thing a couple nights ago. All this work on a re-re chassis....I may have to alter my plan. Thanks for your comments!

Looking good. Project creep is inevitable.

Using Kenoose's template this was the first attempt at the shock tower.

Image

It's ok, but the screws didn't align exactly. Using a jigsaw and Dremel, this won't be exact like a CNC cutout. Reminded me of a high school project....needless to say, I will attempt another tomorrow. Thank goodness I bought enough material to attempt this five more times

Hey guys, I used the following template to created the rear shock tower.

Image

Does anyone have the same template format for the front tower handy? I think a couple of links are broken in Kenooze's build thread.

Thanks
