I've been looking at the Gelande II for quite awhile. When Chris at Rogue Elements sent me an email (I'm on the list for new stuff) about machined aluminum wheel sets, my decision to go for it was made.

I really like what you've done with the bodies. Hopefully, mine will turn out as good.

Thanks man :)
I saw that email as well. Crazy wheels. I love his work. Incredible eye for detail.
I like the format. 1/18 scale is a very manageable size, but is more challenging when it comes to performance/action out on the track.
If you need any help or tips. I'm here.

This is the latest project I'm working on. Which explains my absence from the 1/10th cars.
1/18 scale Ultra4

Oh wow, that is SWEET!!!! Your absence is excused. :D
Some day I want to build a 10th scale RC of this:

I'm gonna try to use brake line to form the chassis. It'l be heavy but that's okay.

Are their different wall thickness's of brake line tubing?

I don't know but I guess there could be. I'll probably use the brake tube that's available from my local Advance Auto parts or Autozone. Whatever is available.
I have other projects to finish and I'll probably change my mind a dozen times before then.
Right now, I'm looking forward to seeing what sandkil does with his Gelande project. That tube chassis is incredible!!!

Cool. I was just thinking that if you could get thinner hall stuff it would be lighter.

Incredible tube chassis, looking forward to the build. 8) I never got around to buying a 1/18th Gelande II. I got the aluminum wheels though. :P

Thanks guys,

Yes it's 2 mm brass rods and I use 3% silver solder and a small butane torch. Once you get a hang of it it's super fun.
The tricky part now is how to solve the steering servo and puch rod layout to maintain full articulation in the front and location of shock top mounts.
I've ordered a set of 1/24 Carisma MSA-1E aluminum oil shocks to go with the modified Losi micro crawler shocks loosely installed in below pics

Now that is sweet!! I need to remind myself that it's 1/18th scale so it's very small. In many ways, the smaller the vehicle, the greater the challenge.
Very nice work sandkil!! 8)

Thank you so much guys,
Here is a small clip just to show the size of the build.
Brazing is such fun. sure it takes time, but just love it when all comes together.
Made a fuel tank/storage = battery compartment and a spare tire hold down yesterday.
