How fortunate we are here to have access (photos, first-hand information, etc.) to the very first car around which this site was founded. Very, very cool.

I’d say this thread (or your final document/photos in some form) deserves a place of prominence – at least a sticky or whatever it’s called.

Looking forward to more photos and stories…

I think this has been answered already elsewhere here, if my memory serves me right, there is no obvious reason besides the fact that the shocks just performed better like that, but I'm sure Steve will have more to say...

Steve has posted an answer to this in the Ask Gene Hustings thread. Very interesting stuff. I think they look better upside down.

The shock seals were leaky right side up, so they turned them upside down to slow down the leak.

Great pics for those that weren't there or around at the time...........

.........interesting though, that since they didn't yet have ESCs back then that they didn't include a mechanical speedo (bastads that they were) and instead pic'd some servos to center the battery pack.
