Yokomo YZ10 would also fit as their carriers and hubs are the same offset, but kyosho is much more plentiful 8)
Anyone that wants to keep the breeds in check can always go the Yokomo route tho

was curious about the belt speed. Runnin things over in my head an it will run faster than a normal belt drive setup but it will be subjected to much less tourqe loads on the teeth thus making it smoother and more resillient, also gears will split wear and friction loads front to rear. I would love to hear what your observations in this area of the build is.

Mip conversions ran off the idler shaft versus mine off the top shaft so I expect it to be similar to what MIP conversions experienced. Not exactly but close

My expertise is mostly with kyosho optimas and their kin. was thinking about the optima series and how the idle gears in the mids were the weak point due to it having to handle meshing with two gears and handling the entire 4 wheel torque load. also belt skip was an issue as the car would wear. probably not an issue with your setup I imagine.

No skipping issues yet, but it's just a little stock motor. This is just the proof of concept more than anything

although a tensioner would help I do have another idea for the next version

i hope you don't mind if i possibly hijack your Idea and play around with some ultima rb5 trannys and either lazer zx or optima pulleys and belts. I would of course give credit to the projects inspiration.

could find a mach v style body and call it mach x or some similar play on the speed racer genere. seems appropriate to your avatar and username. Im also a big fan of early anime such as speed racer and starblazers and was a robotech geek of epic proportions. I even painted a space suit bikini clad character from the Dirty Pair series on the bed of my truck body. i remember taping a comic book page to the outside and painting by numbers on the inside then spraying over it. turned out awesome. it sucks trying to choose a name sometimes. nothing feels quite right... and it remains the Unnamed.

Well, based on that, you could call it "Original Sin".... then the next one could be "Never Learn".... the onroad version could be "One More For The Road"... next would be "Never Caught", up until the final and ultimate release, the "Mach5 Monster".

Of course, imagination was never my strong point.... I'd probably try to call it the Mini Mustang or something...... :oops: :lol: :shock:

Woot! Finally got the noseplates cut out, need to drill and anodize them. Still plenty of things to go still- like cut down belts and getting some more pulleys machined but this is a huge step 8)

Just a mock up, ignore the non countersunk holes. Bumper is missing from pic
