Quick question for anyone up late, the speed controller in the box pictures, is it an LRP unit of some description or a Tekin Sport TSC 408?

It amazes me sometimes how quickly time flies, got married since I was last active on this form and was bit by the Kyosho 1/8 bug for a spell. Firstly I hope this finds everyone safe and healthy in these unique times.

Took me forever and long nights staring at blurry box art photos but I FINALLY found the box art ESC, for the records it is a Ko Propo CX-11HF and I finally managed to score some shock spacers that didn’t cost over $100 :D

Hey Coxbros1, appreciate it, this kinda got me back into the swing of things and I am working on an old MP-1 Kyosho Burns that I posted a bit about in the Kyosho forum (also have an mp7.5 I am attempting a Kanai build on which is a long way off and what appears to be a Turbo Inferno?)

Bought a 1995 Yokomo on the bay that was not in great shape, overpaid and once it was received I found that it was in really, really bad shape, was in a bad front end shunt and the front diff housing was busted, both main pieces, hinges bent etc and non standard wood screws used all over the place, both front arms toast BUT it had at least the front copper springs I have been desperately trying to find so a little more progress on this one lol yay!

p.s. I am almost embarrassed of how dusty this car has gotten sitting on the shelf, it will be cleaned soon!

Well I finally bit the bullet and cut out the body which is something I am really not good at but I think it turned out ok.

Decided to replace the wing as well and ordered a pink one from JC Racing that will look a lot closer to the box art original than the orangie pinkie thing I had going on before. Also ordered a pair of black replica rear rims to replace the originals that are just a little too beat for my taste.

Finally got the wing and replacement rear rims from JC Racing and wow…..they do some great work, here is a quick comparison, original beat up ones on the left and JC ones on the right:

Threw on some decals that I referenced from a couple original photos from BITD using MCI decals and took some pics, I am not much of a photographer and the lighting isn’t great but almost there…..next stop electronics…

Quick question, has anyone ever created replica battery cells using sub c 1.2v cells and MCI decals before or is there a source for the dark Sanyo cells from the day?

And with the external for the most part completed, I started taking a better look at some of the pictures @TokyoProf was kind enough to take of the original car and believe I have the receiver or at least a very close model to the one in the pictures:

So now it is just a matter of figuring out the Ko Propo servo model and getting my hands on some of the vintage Sanyo cells (or making some replicas if it seems feasible)

Nice to see your Yoke coming along...feel free to reach out to me. Are you looking for the KO servo with the external booster module? Or, just a vintage KO servo by chance?

Really appreciate the offer sir, I am trying to identify the servo on your car to complete my box art. Assume it is a Ko Propo unit and the notch on the side seems pretty distinct but so far I am having little luck; any help would be super appreciated :D

Pretty sure the servo you are after is a ko 1001 fet servo (you can see the blue wire) there is also a 1003 but it came with a brass final gear which i think you might be able to see against the white servo horn?

Can’t thank you enough for the above, really appreciate it and now I can begin the hunt :)

I think the chances of coming across that Ko Propo servo are pretty slim but it was the only part that was really holding this project up, so I threw in a placeholder to wrap things up. Eleven years after starting this project, it is hard to believe I am finally in the home stretch….did some work this evening while watching the hockey game (I mean, I am Canadian) and this is how it sits:
