Same here Rob, it was great catching up with you, seeing your cars, telling stories etc. It was definitely a fun event and I enjoyed watching your car. There are quite a few great pictures of your car !

I couldn't find any of this information online when I was trying to research parts so maybe someone will find this info useful.

I bought a #2520 SRT Pro Diff and a #4620 Ball Diff since I started building two SRT trucks. Both diffs have their pro's and con's.

Did the #2520 pro diff come with 2 sizes of gears, with one being too small of a gear for the SRT gearbox?

The #2520 came with two gears, one small which is the same as a stealth diff gear, and the other larger.

I can take a picture of it if you like.

A picture with a side view I could enlarge and do a tooth count would be excellent.

Time to tear the whole truck down to check for bent or broken bits, I don't expect any since I didn't really crash the truck or have any bad bingles. The chassis has some wounds though and I'm quite surprised at how much the back of the fiberglass chassis is worn after only 15 minutes of practice and four 5 minute races I might need to stock up on a few just in case. I should also get a clear chassis protector or some helicopter tape.

There are also a few small changes I'd like to make with the steering posts to tie them into the top deck to reduce some flex in the steering. I didn’t have time to get it sorted before the race.


I also made a rookie mistake and didn't tape the hole in the bottom of the gearbox, I can't believe how much dirt got in there!!! Funny enough you can still blow on the spur gear and the gearbox spins. This won't happen next time.


Wonderful ceramic bearing maintenance on my somewhat vintage Integy 'ultrasonic' cleaner at $14 a piece I want them to last as long as possible, lol.

Yuck...... the track wasn't even that dusty....

You won't make that mistake again......

Me, on the other hand.... that's the sort of goof I'd continue to make

Instead of tape, maybe a thin rubber or foam gasket? I'm just thinking of something reusable that also doesn't leave adhesive residue.

Not that there was really anything wrong with the old gears aside from gaining a rough texture from the dirt I decided to replace them anyways with a new gear set and flipped all the diff rings.




While I had everything apart I stripped the anodizing off the slipper eliminator as it was the only blue part on the truck.




Dirt won't get in the gearbox again.......

I finally had the motivation to make the steering post spacers.

It took a while to get some posts that I could use. Since there aren't any hobby shops within at least 2 hours and their inability to find suitable parts without a part number makes things frustrating....

All back together ready for "The Vintage Bash 3.0" or any other vintage event.

Not sure what modern truck/buggies weigh in at but mine fully ready to go came in at 1728 grams.



Kind of disappointing really considering my box stock T2 with the same battery and full size servo weighs 1733g lol

Haha i was going to say, I'm surprised by that weight given the attention to detail you put into lightening the truck, particularly the gearbox. Still great to see you're still working on it and planning to run it at more vintage events

Haha i was going to say, I'm surprised by that weight given the attention to detail you put into lightening the truck, particularly the gearbox. Still great to see you're still working on it and planning to run it at more vintage events

I guess the question now is do I continue with it or put it on the shelf as a cool piece and pick something "better", especially now that AE parts are being reproduced.


The arms are quite short compared to more modern vintage trucks.
