I had to double check the date again

Well, that's night 1 in the bank.... That ASSociated front end is fiddly as anything! Surprised I only lost one e-clip, with my sausage fingers.... Night 2 will most likely involve adding the rear arms... I need to pull down my donor transmission and add all the 'good' parts, and that will involve cleaning.... so maybe a few years before that happens!

Still, progress, after a hell of a long time!

Night 2 done... just installed the rear arms and hubs. Will sort out the rear hub bearings and start disassembly of the donor trans tonight, so progress may get a little slow for a while....

Night 3 was a quiet one, progress-wise... sorted out some more of the missing parts, and did some more work on the rear end. It's been a while since I've put together Schumacher driveshafts from new parts (plastic parts and unis), and I've never done the Daytona shafts before... they're a PITA at the best of times, with the normal long driveshafts... the ones for the Daytona only have about 10mm of telescopic drive shaft each end! Not great for my sausage fingers. Yes, I know you're supposed to warm the plastics before installing, to make things easier.... maybe next build

Getting closer to mounting this bit on the chassis.... with thanks again to RJ for the rebuild, it looks better than new

Quick couple of update photos, after having put the transmission together. Bearings in the layshaft, but still bushes on the ball diff - it was in nice, smooth condition, so I didn't feel like dismantling it to add bearings.

Carbon fibre rear tower is a Bezerk reproduction.... they do good work!
Next up, add the engine, electricals, and wheels and tyres. Then steering linkages and rear shocks, and it's pretty much done. Exciting times!

Did you ever figure a good body? Still waiting for you to send me the "serious rejects' you've collected...

I have a couple ready to choose from; unpainted McAllister Jag, or painted Buick and Ford Cosworth / Mondeo (aka Euro Blob). Just working out which would be best... a paint job someone else has put down, or one I personally ruin

Besides, you can get new pulled pan car bodies much cheaper over there. Postage kills it down here, sadly.... especially new Nascar-style shells from the likes of Parma or Sabula Tech.

So you ball race those 24 gear Tamiya thingy’s you build, yet you won’t cough up for 2 ball bearings for you Daytona transmission!? Priorities!

Merely a matter of not wanting to rebuild a perfectly functional ball diff, with my history of double-cheek arsing things up.... I have plenty of 1680 bearings sitting here, blue shielded and all, but the diff action is just so nice, I don't want to ruin it.

I like this build

It's like the RC version of the Bold and the Beautiful or Days of our Lives.... except it's starting to get juicy of late.

Looking very crisp and clean. I'm not sure theres one running Daytona in the world right now!? So there's a chance this might be the first. Exciting times. 1992 LFG..
