So I have a slot machine stock motor in one of my cars, with a Traxxas xl5 speedo, would a 50c shorty lipo kill the motor??

I dealt with a lot of brushless and lipo stuff, but haven't combined any brushed motors with newer, higher c-rating lipos...

Ok so I have been running an 84/14 with a trinity green machine on 2S (darn I for got the c rating but it has a 100C burst) with an LRP Indy 600. It's only 7.4 volts as apposed to 7.2 old school volts. The only potential issue I have seen/dealt with is run time vs. gearing. Meaning you might have to give up some top speed to keep the motor temps down. Just know how hot your motor gets that's how you could cook it, enjoying those extra 0.2 volts and more run time. Might want to get a low voltage alarm too.

Somebody's gotta have some additional intel as well. But that's my limited experience with a brushed on lipo.

I have run tons of brushed motors (silver can, black can, 27-turn stock, low-turn modified, etc...) and old-school ESC's (Tamiya, Dynamite, Novak, Tekin, LRP, Traxxas, etc...) on a bunch of different LiPo batteries with various 'C' ratings.

I have not had any problems at all, just beware that the power from the LiPo is much closer to a 7-cell, 8.4 volt, NiMH battery - so think about your gearing/motor temp, as if you were running a 7-cell pack.

* As mentioned above, caution not to over-discharge the LiPo, but to be honest I rarely approach low voltage because the run-time of the LiPo is so long - usually I stop running a particular car after 10 minutes or so, because the motor/ESC will start getting hot!
