finally got the bearings i ordered off the back of 1300gt's build inspired by his front gearbox build i started this

got to go out tommorow to get some tube to make spacers so i can run it up and see what it sounds like.

not sure which way to go with it yet thinking of making an extension piece to mount the motor on a std srb chassis as opposed to making a complete mip style chassis as im not planing on trying to build mip style trailing arms.

im assuming the output shafts will sit higher what are the options for running these (its approximate dimensions of a mip box)other than mip style trailing arms or were they only used with trailing arms ?

does anyone know if a std tamiya chassis plate is thick enough to make a motor plate?

Very nice. 8) How's the gear mesh?

You're right. The output shafts will sit higher than stock. Most people used MIP style trailing arms with this type of gearbox. Here's a link to Jack Grenenger's build using MRP semi trailing arms.http://www.tamiyaclub.com/article.asp?id=189 He does use a stock gearbox though. You can always run Scorpion semi trailing arms.

I used 1/8th of an inch thick G10 for the motor plate. The SRB chassis is 2mm thick. It might be a bit too flexible as a motor plate. But, you can always epoxy two pieces together to make a 4mm thick slab.

thanks 1300gt the mesh seems ok i will have to get it bolted up and make a motor plate before i really know, this is just a prototype atmo.
i think i may just chuck it on my existing kyosho trailing arm chassis for now, cant see myself getting or paying for a set of mip trailing arms anytime soon.
with the motor plate maybe i will just go ally for now ive only got one beat up srb chassis to cut down and in wondering if thats thick enough to make a chassis extension now.

bit more progress today got the motor plate made up and whole thing bolted together spins up freely but not 100% on mesh yet it maybe too loose, thought it seemed heavy so weighed it ,77 grams compared to aprox 170 grammes for std box and incomplete gears with no bolts

finally got this done, fitted to my project with rere scorpion arms functions ok will have to redo various bits but allright for a prototyp/work in progress,i can theoretically run this in a mid engine config but current shock setup preventing me atmo .
