Yokomo Works '92

Ok... so who is ready to see an amazing transformation....? I have been gathering a few nice optional parts for a Works build for a while now, whilst keeping my eyes open for a suitable donor car.

This bargain then appeared, and I felt so sorry for it I had to buy it. Look away if easily offended. It did come with a couple of lovely hidden gems however...

I know!

BUT, it was literally just what I was after as I have a lot of other parts to go on to the car, so this is essentially a donor. I was only really looking for some diffs, driveshafts, hingepins plus the Works '92 rear shock tower. Luckily this car has the super-rare MMS ribbed motor heatsink and the white nylon MMS front bulkhead.

I already had sourced those two items along with an original Drescher front shock tower, and I also have a complete set of Drescher wishbones. The spare ribbed mount and bulkhead will be available for trades (motor mount is already allocated to somebody), so this car has pretty much paid for itself already. I don't have it yet but I am also looking at a new chassis (I hate the angled-in battery position on the Works cars) so all of the parts i was needing are included and will be salvaged from this car. I also have a Suzuki drive spindle and Hydradrive slipper set-up and Teamline 5degree C-blocks, which are what are sometimes used with the short front Drescher wishbones to increase steering bite.

This other motor mount is on the way to me as i type, and is in stunning condition, and I also have the matching optional upper heatsink cap which is often not fitted on these and is pretty rare.

It has taken me some time to gather the above bits and bobs, and I am now happy to have sourced just the right car from my project. I would really like to locate a rear nylon MMS bulkhead to complete the set, and have a spare front equivalent available to trade, but not essential to the build and I will go ahead with using the aluminium rear for the time being. the rear Drescher wishbones are also in the post to me now, so I will update the thread when they land. MMS were located just down the road from me as I was raised in the West Midlands (MMS being Midland Motor Sport), and Central Models (CML) who distributed these parts was one of my local model shops.

Man, that car took a few dives off of the ugly tree. Should look pretty nice in the end, though. You can do it!

Just curious on how this car is coming along.

I actually used some of the parts on the Pinkomo 870c build in the end, and very recently traded the rest for an 834b - a car I have always wanted. I struggled to motivate myself to build this as the Works '92 was slightly later than my last car during my racing days....

Nice! Your pink 870c is a sweet looking car. I'm working on a all blacked out 92 works.
