RC10 DS driving tips

Hi all, now that the DS C5 corvette is running, another newbie query - proper on-road driving technique on pavement.

I run autocross and understand vehicle dynamics to a degree (though no nationals champ!). But RC cars feel so different. Everything’s faster at scale of course, and there’s no felt chassis input - just driver input and using eyes (and ears occasionally). So…

1. Braking - do you reverse to brake? And it seems in a straight line is all one can manage (with my old tires anyways). Any trail braking is an instant spin.

2. Turn in - do you add throttle or lift at turn in? Thought I’d never do the former in a real car, I’m having trouble with snap oversteer if I lift.

3. Mid corner - I use maintenance throttle ideally and try to hold a line l.

4. Exit - easing in throttle as I straighten out ideally.

Any advice? (besides getting new tires perhaps!)

If the car spins out when you lift firstly check for drag in the driveline, if there is none then dial the drag brake down. Make sure your front ahocks aren't too soft and try to take grip off the front of the car. Or the rear end is set up too stiff.

Thanks. Just put in a new ESC last night to replace the old Novak, so brakes are now an option.

The stealth may need a rebuild - good point on the resistance in the rear.
