I have a axle set ordered from rcMart should be here in a few months. In the mean time why not a zip tie to hold things in place.

It's just the axle, right? Not the CVD.
If so, they are common. Amain has them in stock. I even have a couple, leftover from using CVD's on my Comical Grasshopper.

Think I'd just buy an M4 die and cut the thread myself .

Tamiya should have included a M4 die in the tool bag and called it a one of one limited edition kit. I did how ever gain another box wrench that I don't need.

Which one?
Seriously though, I actually had the urge to check if I had one after seeing your post.
Turns out that I have M3 and M4 taps and dies, in both pitches. I was pretty sure about the taps but had never really looked at the smaller dies.
