i did a search and can't find the topis.

I want to upgrade the slipper to more avaliable parts. i believe it can be a B-3 slipper

also will it work on a rc10-t with the RPM conversion? thanks

You can use a B3 slipper assembly. If you want, I've seen people here use a B4 slipper. But, I don't think if fits under the gear cover unless you have an old RPM hydradrive cover. The B4 topshaft is significantly longer.

Just take off the old top shaft from your Stealth tranny and replace it by a B4 one, then use all the B4 slipper assembly and just take off the plug from the stock gear cover, no need for a RPM Hydradrive cover... it's a direct fit and works way better than the older Stealth slipper!

Here's my runner with the B4 slipper and stock gear cover, as mine was new when I cut it, I only drilled the hole for the shaft to protrude and move freely. There was not a single debris inside after a 6-hours enduro race...

I was able to use an RPM gear cover cap on the stock gear cover to cover the B4 slipper shaft on my RC10. It works great.

I have an old RC10 Gold Pan car with the stealth (2.25 tranny). I am interested in some more details on your upgrade - RC10 (stealth) buggy slipper to B4 style double slipper.

I also have an old TOP Models hybrid car (made in england) that has a stealth tranny with a double slipper clutch. As close as I can figure it is a Losi hydra drive double slipper. This clutch works great too! If I could identify the part numbers, it looks like this stuff might still be available too. The B4 upgrade seems easier, and I already have a B4, so it would be nice to be using the same parts.

I am getting ready to tear them down and see what part will swap around. I might be able to figure it out that way.

The upgrade described above (B4 double slipper onto early RC10) seems to involve using a b4 top shaft with the B4 double slipper assembly (all easily available), but I am curious about some of the details. There is a spacer on the B4 shaft. Does this spacer go on the outside for the early tranny, to keep the spacing correct. It looks like it goes on the inside of the bearing for the B4 tranny. Maybe this will all become clear once I tear into it.

I appreciate any help you can give me.

you dont need the spacer for the topshaft with the old stealth. you just need the topshaft, 2 slipper plates & pads, and the spring & locknut.

Thanks badhoopty and Brandon G! I will order part, tear it apart, and see what happens. I may get back to you, but it looks straight forward.

Do you guys know about the Losi double slipper? the T.O.P. Hybrid car is awesome, was probably sold in the early 90s and has a nice losi hydra drive double slipper. It doesn't use the hydra drive viscous fluid thing, just the clutches. the car is a combo of a bunch of RPM parts, stealth tranny, some losi stuff, combo of traxxas and associated shocks, etc.

thanks

you can add the b4 gear cover if you add a hole.

FWIW, the old slipper design uses Kimbrough spur gears available in any size you can think of, the B4 slipper only recently had gears come out in lower tooth counts (72 I think?) that better match up with the crazy tall gears that are used with 17.5 BL. Worth considering since these older chassis match well in stock racing.

This topic brings up a couple gear ratio questions for me. I might just be over analyzing it.

ericsp2 said they have the RPM conversion trans. That means if the B4's top shaft has a different number of teeth then you will no longer have the 2.65 gear ratio you bought the RPM conversion trans for.

The B4's Stealth has a gear ratio is 2.6:1. What gear ratio does its top shaft change the original Stealth to which I presume is 2.25?

--------------------------------------------------------------
Original Stealth to B4 Stealth slipper clutch conversion parts list.

Top Shaft - Part# 9601

Slipper Hub (Need two of these) - Part# 9604

Slipper Pad - Part# 9603

Slipper Spring - Part# 9605

5-40 Differential Locknut - Part# 6629

Note: You will need to add your own spur gear. Cheapest route is to buy a complete trans off eBay.

I also looked at the T4 manual and it appears they use the same parts. That portion of the manual is just a copy of the B4's.

the b4's 2.60 trans uses a larger diff gear to lower the ratio. the rpm 2.65 conversion trans uses a smaller topshaft to lower the gear ratio. you can not use a b4 topshaft in the rpm 2.65 conversion trans.

the b4,t4, and sc10 use the same slipper setup.

Well thats some important info right there. :!:

So does the original Stealth and the B4/T4 Stealth have the same top shaft gear teeth number?

yes, the associated topshaft has the same tooth count from the 2.25 through the 2.60.
