@silvertriple mentioned the helmet he did for his Tomahawk driver, so I searched the thread to take a look. It is such a great detail and easy to duplicate! I am posting a snapshot here in case you haven't seen it.

just in case it is usefull to someone... here is the picture of the visor before I used the reamer to put the holes on it (to be done after defining where you have to put them).
Image

Last, once position is set, a drill bit of 1.2 mm have been used to set the holes in the helmet, and I used small M1.6x4 screws to fix the visor, and the result is really perfect...

Thanks for the visor tips, that's definitely a great idea!

Peterson's visor is the hard part to replicate, if the boxart is strictly adhered to, it has the sun visor portion. I've seen a pic of someone having done that properly, and the jacket in cloth too.
Image

Depailler doesn't have the sun visor.
Image

Looked everywhere for miniature goggles like the 1:6 goggles from this Etsy ad, difficult to find 1:10.
Image

It's 11am here, windy and overcast for the moment. Hoping it calms down and the sun peeks out, so I can get the paint right today.

Image

If it won't get better out there, might just trim decals instead.

Thanks again guys!

Etsy is full of these, in Steam Punk, and about every other style you can think of: miniature 1:10 scale goggles - and then clicking on images - got me those goggles above, and led me to Etsy. Most seem to be made for 1/6, 1/12, or 1/18. 1/10 seems to be missing unfortunately, maybe it's more of a RC airplane thing?

Most likely this is correct. Some of those plane guys are pretty hardcore with the scale accuracy. I met a guy at Scale Masters a few years ago who had corresponded with a museum curator in Poland for 2 years to get the details correct on his plane. He said that museum had the only surviving plane in existence. I was amazed at the dedication, and definitely respected his art, but the cynic in me was thinking "if you got it wrong, who except that one guy in Poland would ever know?"

I really do appreciate that level of detail, and the skill and patience it takes to make a scale model exceptional. I've never had the patience, or skill.

Saw someone selling a broken vintage P34 like the one below a couple of months ago, and when I found this 2022 RI model, I had to test myself.

I'll stay away from painting the eyes on for now .

Looks like the ideal day to spray paint the lower half is finally here, 11 am, no wind, and the sun is shining at 66° already. Going to wait another hour or so (work from home), and then spray it at noon when the sun will be overhead, and about 80°, hoping to speed up the drying time.

But first need to smooth out the orange peel spots, and remove the specks.

Yesterday turned windy and overcast at noon, today wasn't much better but I tried to paint the lower half anyway, didn't turn out the way I wanted. One more TS-15 can on the way. Going sand the nose, and start over.
Image

The wings need one more TS-15 coat too.

(4) TS-15 spray cans, and I blew it again.
Image

It's worse than this picture shows.
Image

I didn't take off all of the old paint on the nose, before painting over it, so the spray built up in spots that are in obvious areas and now un-level.

Didn't use primer, even after I scraped the paint off earlier.

Going to take all of the paint off the nose, and primer just the nose forward of where that line is at, once it's level, spray TS-15 on it.

This was an expensive learning course, on how to do it the wrong way, four times now. Need to remember all of this, and never make these same mistakes again.

The paint and primer for this project is set to arrive today, finally. Really looking forward to getting this one finished. Need to continue to sand the nose, then primer, then paint.

This Tyrrell P34 body should've been the easiest hard shell body to do, but I just keep having trouble. Need to sand this last bit, then one more primer coat, and I think I'm ready to paint.
