Another small step forward. Next stop to see if I can save some of these turnbuckles.

Let’s see if we can save some of these rusty turnbuckles.

Sanded down and then wiped down with acetone
Four applications of Cold Blue using a q-tip
Dumped and wiped down with veggie oil and will be left overnight

Just a quick one cleaning up the front shocks (replacing the gold pistons with standard steel), replacing front springs and shifting the blues to the back, just to get a little closer to the box art version etc. but this will never be a box art, more of a tribute lol finishing up the steering,as well.

Sometimes in order to take a step forward, one has to buy what is left of one to scrounge parts. Bought this for the tank, exhaust mount and motor mounts woohoo!

Finally finished tearing it down, screws just caked with cement like dirt; ended up tossing the majority of them (worn, rusty, they were beyond saving).

Cleaned up the parts I was going to use, the rest went to the storage bin. Exhaust mount done (waste not want not)

And another small step forward…at least for now (ps getting those red o-rings to stay in place while screwing the tank back in was a thing of nightmares)

Finally managed to get my hands on some front C hubs, NIP at a reasonable price (because they were a little yellowed and once received they took a peroxide bath) and threw together the remainder of the front steering assembly, not bad if I do say so myself.

Sometimes I really question my purchase decisions after they arrive….but whatever, RC makes me happy as does restoring old vehicles from BITD, bought this pile of bits literally for one piece (RC10GT related….can you spot it? lol)

Well it cleaned up pretty well. Super pleased, I have always wanted one of these on my GT and this is my first. Soap and water with a toothbrush bath and voila!
