Sweet buggy, looks like you picked up a really good looking car. I don't believe you'd be money ahead buying a cheaper one. The nicer the car is when you start, the less time/money/effort you'll spend in the end.

Those chemical based paints don't play well with liquid mask, so I would test on something first before you try it on the body.

Much thanks! The seller is actually driving it over here, right now, he called and said he was going out of town and it was now or much later for delivery. I'll put the pics in here shortly.

Wow, glad you mentioned this before I got started. You're saying Liquid Mask is for the airbrush type paints, not chemical based aerosol paint, as it may bleed through, or come off from the chemicals? Thanks again, I may need to rethink this. I'll test it first definitely.

Ebay seller just left, he hand delivered this, and refunded the shipping charge in cash. Best ebay deal ever, in over 24 years.

Has the front sway bar too. This one is pretty mint, besides the extra steering servo hole. I'm not sure if I can bring myself to Dead Pool this one, this one might have to be the Jammin' Jay Halsey car from The Dead Pool, instead (want the pair eventually).

Did I get the same Tx as the kid is holding in the pic above?

Pretty sure the Tx I got with this, is the one from the JJH car. The Tx the kid is holding, has the antenna at a forward angle, not many other Tx I know of can do this.
Image

The Tx I got is in bad shape however. Missing knobs, broken antenna, not even sure if it works yet. But pretty excited about it being the same one. Nerdy challenge to try and restore it - accepted.

Minty car AND cash back? If your favorite song was playing on the radio I'd say you hit the trifecta. :P  Well done.

Didn't know you were contemplating a Hasley car... It'd make an excellent candidate for that if you're hesitant to take dye to it.

Radio from the screen grab is a T3PG, has a "warm up" toggle switch for gas motors between the stand up Throttle High Trim and CH 3 dials

Sorry to inform you but the transmitter the kid is using in the movie is a Magnum (not a Junior or Sport).

Yeah it almost melts it and makes it so the mask doesn't come off.

I'll get over the controller not being the exact same, thanks for the info. Though I do have an odd one, it's called the Racer, not Junior or Sport. Glad to find out it's not missing any knobs, just the antenna is broken. Ebay NOS one.

That would have seriously soured this project, thanks for the warning. Will find another way.

What I started with earlier today.

That's the one, thanks!

Dymond (UMP/UMD - United Model Products/Distributors)
RED Label
2 Ball Bearings
Double Wound With .022 Gauge Wire
Epoxy Coated Winding
Positive Lock Ferrite Magnets "A"
Hard Brushes
1 16x2 Oval 30,000 RPM
2 17x2 Super Sprint 28,000 RPM
3 18x2 Sprint 26,900 RPM
4 19x2 Enduro 26,000 RPM
5 20x2 Eco 24,800 RPM

Not an off-road motor? This thing had the sponge tires, and different springs jacked up so high the rear axle stubs were biting the white plastic arms, too much angle. Not sure what this was setup for.

Unbelievable stroke of luck on that deal, thanks

Noticed there is a JJH painted body on ebay right now.

I have never seen a Magnum Racer. Looks to be a re-badged Junior??? Maybe a RTR model?
