Re: Bubbleboy’s Stealth Build

I swapped the peroxide bath for bleach. The bleach did a little bit, but not nearly enough. Going to sand the porous outer layer of the parts this weekend. Pics to follow

Re: Bubbleboy’s Stealth Build

I still have the black dye from the Yokomo rims I just did. These parts just might be destined for it!

Re: Bubbleboy’s Stealth Build

Not to be a sceptic, but I have to agree with you about the peroxide. We’ll give it some time. I may try bleach as well if all else fails. Worst case, I buy the parts again.

Bubbleboy’s Stealth Build

The parts bin was screaming at me....build me....build me. Even though I’ve sold almost all my collection, I knew I’d somehow regret it if I didn’t assemble the Nix91 car given all the parts I had amassed over the past couple of years. Let’s just get right into the dye job. So far it has not gone we...

Re: RC10.44 : Shaft Drive 4WD RC10

If I had to do it over again, I’d use the B64 drivetrain. The two pieces that run lengthwise to reduce flex would be easier to integrate into the tub (mount to the floor) rather than having to deal with two top plates.

Re: RC10.44 : Shaft Drive 4WD RC10

Well, if I had known Photobucket would have revived itself, I wouldn’t have deleted my account. Anyway, I think I got most pics fixed. Stuck some Yokomo mini pins on....looks better than the Dirt Webs https://i.imgur.com/slDGXmv.jpg Even though I’ve sold most of the fleet, this one may just stay.

Re: Smoking Man Graphite Find

This build is dragging on forever. Got a bit more of the rear end done. Found some vintage 6 gear felts that are on their way. Still can’t find mint bottom load gold shocks or a set of tires that doesn’t cost me almost $100 CDN per pair after the exchange. This restore is not one of my better financ...

Re: Smoking Man Graphite Find

Pics fixed. Will post up the latest state of the car this weekend.

As well, my parts wanted post has been updated with what I need to complete the build.

Stay tuned!

Re: Smoking Man Graphite Find

Photobucket pissed me off and I deleted my account. One of these days I’ll fix my links, including this thread.

Some progress has been made, but still looking for some parts.

Last set of these I had was in 1985. Rubber was so soft, they worked great as slicks!

Re: RC10.44 : Shaft Drive 4WD RC10

Thanks guys.

As far as driving this thing, it will likely go up the street and back again. Really don't want any scratches on it when it's done.

Re: RC10.44 : Shaft Drive 4WD RC10

Finally got around to painting a body worthy of the build. As much as I wanted to Protech body, I just didn't like the look of it. A Mirage body just suited it better. Found some gloss black vinyl, and wrapped the rims too. Looked better than the white. https://i.imgur.com/JWE4g46.jpg Next up, some ...

Re: Smoking Man Graphite Find

It's amazing what happens when bits and pieces sit in peroxide for weeks. Also got a fresh pack of gold screws.

Got a bunch of replacement vintage parts coming. Replica body and stickers have also been sourced.
