Re: Splurged on an MIP SL-1
Ahh, I just realized you were the one that I sold the SP-1 to. :D Yes, it was extremely clean, and I am glad it went to a 10talker. Sometimes it's a small world! I'm surprised it only has 2 bolt holes on the bottom. I was thinking about getting a cool looking jconcepts motor plate, but I'm thinking...

Splurged on an MIP SL-1
So I just bought an MIP SL-1 for and RC10 project I started. Based on all the manuals I've looked it, it appears to include all the parts. I gotta say this thing is a work of beauty. It's just...sexy inside. It came with a GD-100 and a TC-100. All the teeth look brand new. It looks barely used. Just...

Re: RC10 with RC10gt gearbox?
Welp, I just dropped some money on an MIP SP-1 gearbox with a GD-100 and TC-100. I did some research and I'm 90% sure it'll fit on the RC10 B chassis. Worst case scenario, I'll just sell it. If nothing else, a small loss will teach me another lesson about hasty purchases. Is the SP-1 better than the...

Re: RC10 with RC10gt gearbox?
What about the RC10DS stealth gearbox? Would that bolt onto the B-chassis? I'm just trying to figure out what to keep an eye out for.

Re: RC10 with RC10gt gearbox?
What would you like to do with the car? If the 6 gear you have is in good shape build the car as you have it and work on replacing with a stealth over time. I've always wanted to throw a brushless on it. I've read a bunch of posts on here about toughening up the 6gear, but I'm still reluctant to pu...

RC10 with RC10gt gearbox?
So I just purchased a 6gear RC10 (minus electrics) from Etsy for $170. I've had most the pieces for a 6gear RC10 that I got 25 years ago, but I'd been too afraid to do anything with it lately. The one I just bought says in the listing that it has a B - stamped chassis. Unless I'm mistaken, I should ...

Ball Studs and Turnbuckles
A few questions (that will probably lead to a couple more questions): What is the diameter of the ball studs on the classic rc10 cars? What size is the threads on the turnbuckles? This seems like it should be easy information to find, but I'm having a tough time locating it. In your guys' opinions, ...

Re: Better 6-gear transmission spur/slip assembly?
Brainstormed some ideas with a couple engineering buddies and came to the conclusion that there isn't much that can be done to these trannys without having to modify the case itself. Which I'm sure you guys already knew that. Did I mention that I tend to have a bad habit of overcomplicating things? ...

Re: Better 6-gear transmission spur/slip assembly?
Thank you for the information and advice guys! I disassembled the tranny last night and discovered that I definitely did NOT know what I was doing 20 years ago. Missing bushings, gears not all the way in place, etc... It'd be nice to upgrade to the stealth tranny, but I'd rather not drill the necess...

Re: Better 6-gear transmission spur/slip assembly?
I clearly have little knowledge about rc cars at the moment. The part where the spur gear is essentially "clamped" between two washers is not called a slip assembly? What is that assembly called? That part kicked my butt about 20 years ago. No matter what I did, the gear would just spin, a...

Better 6-gear transmission spur/slip assembly?
I'm sure this has been answered a dozen times, but I can't seem to find it. I'm planning to rebuild and experiment with some modifications on one of my 6-gear transmissions. Is there a better spur/slip assembly currently (and readily) available for these? Would it require a different currently (and ...

Re: Good evening from Kentucky
Thank you thank you. I have a bit of work ahead of me. I'm starting with a dirty a heck, mostly stripped chassis and a box of random parts. Looks like I have two transmissions, most of the plastic parts, lots of machine screws/nuts, and a bunch of random parts I haven't gone through yet.

Good evening from Kentucky
Getting back into rc cars after 20 years. I started piecing together a vintage rc10 when I was 14 and never finished because it was a little too expensive for a 14yo's income. While looking up ideas for a fun hobby I can do without a garage, I saw that Team Associated is selling reproduction classic...
