That swiss cheesed transmission brace is trick. Slightly stiffer than a wet piece of cardboard!

Re: RC10B4 Blue Anodized Project

They aren't threaded like the FT shocks, but the B4 RTR had blue anodized shock bodies. Those are very dark blue. I had the same Trinity motor plate pictured above on my RTR and the shocks were a match. I have no doubt there were some out there with darker shades though, since anodizing can vary fr...

Re: RC10B4 Blue Anodized Project

They aren't threaded like the FT shocks, but the B4 RTR had blue anodized shock bodies. Add an LRP speed control for good measure! Oh and there were blue thumbscrews for the battery strap iirc.

Hideous. I felt the pan car oval wing added to the aesthetic.

Re: Gearing suggestion for Reedy Radon 2 19T, six-gear

I've never run lipo batteries, but I'm finding that 3000mah NIMH is a lot of power and run time for a brushed motor. I'm finding that I need to have time limits (which I hate) to avoid overheating brushed motors. I haven't seriously shopped for lipos, so maybe there are some that are brushed motor ...

Re: Gearing suggestion for Reedy Radon 2 19T, six-gear

That would put me at 54/11-12.

Which sounds about right because my smallest current pinion is a 13T. Of course.

Gearing suggestion for Reedy Radon 2 19T, six-gear

Running a 54T 32P AE spur. The B4 RTR manual recommends 9.57 as FDR for a 19T motor (I think the original Radon 17T was stock in that car). A 54/10 would be in that neighborhood for the six gear, does that sound about right? I'll most likely run lipo with modern tires, just ripping around the yard, ...

Re: The cheapest tub pan on eBay

Try Whink Rust Stain Remover for stripping the ano, you can get it at Walmart. I’ve used it to strip paintball marker parts in minutes. Not sure how well it will work on the hard anodizing Associated used, but worth a shot.

Re: Is this much spur gear/diff hub gap normal?

My preference is to use the AE spurs, but I will keep the Traxxas option in my back pocket as a last resort. The Losi diff tube is in the car now and fabricating a brass spacer for the shrunken one will be easy enough.

Re: Is this much spur gear/diff hub gap normal?

My calipers are Harbor Freight specials, so the accuracy is always questionable. :D I had a spare diff tube in the parts box (the bearing version by Losi) and all of my spurs fit that one fine. I’ll check for some appropriately sized brass tubing the next time I make a trip to the hardware store, th...

Re: No lube on 6-gear diff thrust bearing?

Interesting that the re-re manual says to lube it while the original does not. The original manual also indicates grease should be used on the inner hub of the spur gear, I see that is omitted from the re-re version. I’m tempted to believe the guys who designed the car as opposed to whoever wrote th...
