Re: Back from the death, CAT 2000 EC
Still a really good race car, even today. I race mine at vintage meetings and it's a sweet thing to drive

Re: Charging, discharging and storing SANYO sub-c batteries.
Anyone know what causes old SC and SCR batteries to leak horrible white crystalline stuff? I have some cells stored in a plastic box and they are slowly wrecking themselves, leaking their internals. They have been stored discharged and not shorted out. I wanted to put them in some shelf queens but n...

Re: the motor collection grows a bit more
Yahoo Japan always has such nice stuff on it. Shame it's not easy to use if you live in the UK

Re: the motor collection grows a bit more
Very nice! I've only got a few Kyosho motors and they are lovely bits of kit. My favourite is the Gold High Torque motor with the machined aluminium end bell, shame it's not complete as I don't have the armature. Re: My Shumacher Virginity Has Been Deflowered
Can someone clue me in to when these were made and if they're actually worth anything? Old RC cars just follow me home... Hi mate, CAT 2000 replaced the Bosscat as Schumacher's top of the line 4WD racer in time for the '93 worlds at Basildon, Essex, England. They go for anywhere between £50 - £80 G...

Re: Are people thinking about rc performance all wrong today
Someone mentioned using A&L style trailing arms in rear to save weight.... these are bad if you want your car to handle well. Trailing arms don't have the same range of tuning or offer the same camber control during wheel travel versus double wishbone. MacPherson strut design has the same issue ...

Re: Are people thinking about rc performance all wrong today
Springs aren’t involved in cornering? What about roll stiffness? Agree- Fredswain's statement mostly made sense until he wrote that.... Damping afects the way the car begins to roll. For example, a car with no damping will still run in a straight line and go over small bumps reasonably, if a bit un...

Every car has one of those, it's called your thumb....(or hand, if you use a wheel Tx)fredswain wrote:The best design change would be to find a way to limit servo speed as vehicle speed increases.

Re: Are people thinking about rc performance all wrong today
I'm not sure where you get the idea that I'm confused on mid motor cars. I have one! I said that rear motor cars already have so much rear traction that they can often lift the front wheels off the ground and hence can lose some of that grip and not suffer for it. No you didn't...your sentence was ...

Re: Are people thinking about rc performance all wrong today
Been following this thread with interest....can't hold back any more: people mention adding weight helps hold the front end down during acceleration. I see that. I could also see just allowing the slipper clutch to run a little looser to accomplish the same thing....... people complain about mid mot...

Re: kyosho lazer zx late edition?
Sorry cant agree on that since all MKII´s i have bought have had the hyperclutch. Perhaps hyperclutch was a market dependent specification then? Certainly I'd never even seen one until I bought James's car and spares off him, and at last count I have 14 Vintage Lazers..... ( I'm a...

BTW, are we now agreed that the ZX-R mk.2 didn't come with a hyperclutch?

Re: kyosho lazer zx late edition?
I've never seen a UK advert for a ZX-RR, either from Ripmax or from any model shops and I have a complete set of RRCi magazines right up until 2000 when 1/10th off-road coverage got really poor and everyone want touring car racing instead. I'd love to get hold of one if anyone knows of a decent orig...

Re: kyosho lazer zx late edition?
Isobarik, That link to my NIB is a Mk.2 - guess you just looked at the box artwork which Kyosho didn't change between the ZX-R and ZX-R mk.2. This is one of my ZX-R mk.1's It has plastic battery clips, upright front shock tower + fewer holes in the rear tower, different chassis, motor plate etc. htt...

Re: kyosho lazer zx late edition?
thanks for that helpful info, but I think zxr MKII still come with the zxr slipper, hyperclutch only equiped at three cars:zxrr、zx-s & zx-s evolution。 I second that. I have a ZX-R Mk.2 I've owned since new in the 1990's and it definitely came with the ZXR slipper, not the hyperclutch. Since the...
