Re: 1993 WCS ‘Faux-komo’ Repo 3d printed & Non-OEM Parts

Bearings are 11x5

I'm not sure about the belts as mine has the 2mm pitch but I would think the m3 is the same as the later YZ-10 part number ZD 652

Re: Yokomo turnbuckle shaft size?

The Yokomo ones I've purchased have all been 3mm I've also used lunsford ones which are 4-40 which is broadly the same when it comes to screwing into ball joints.

Re: Cliff Letts 1990 roar winning yz10

Love this, really well executed. One quick question - how did you get the shocks that colour?

Re: 1993 WCS ‘Faux-komo’ Repo 3d printed & Non-OEM Parts

Drilling holes in those battery posts is a nightmare, maybe it was my bits but in the end I heated up a 2mm bit on the gas stove and used that to make a pilot hole which I then drilled out with a pin vice.

Re: 1993 WCS ‘Faux-komo’ Repo 3d printed & Non-OEM Parts

Have a bunch of parts ordered and on their way, just waiting for some packages. Hope to have an update on this project soon. This is more of a reference note for myself but I am getting ready to start assembling the steering components and believe the ZC-201 flange bearings are 3 x 6mm and will fit...

Re: Yokomo MX-4........ Restore or part out?

The kit specific lower bulk head parts are impossible to find, and although there is a 3D printed option, I decided to research other Yokomo parts, and found that ZS-300RTG (For the MR4-TC) bulk head parts are very very similar. I was able to locate NIP parts locally (again) so grabbed them today. ...

Re: 870c ReRe?

There is 1 running at a big meeting here in Nz this weekend after a practice day today the big thing I can see is it needs way more droop for outdoor real off-road tracks. Is this a consequence of using longer shock towers and shorter shocks? When Fan RC put the comparisons up on Failbook between o...

Re: 1993 WCS ‘Faux-komo’ Repo 3d printed & Non-OEM Parts

So this could very well be user error but it appears either the king pins I ordered were the wrong ones (too long) or the threaded steering components don’t like them lol, might replace with shorter regular screws but for now will leave as is. Those pins look like the ones for the front shock mount...

Re: Alex B's WCS 1989 build

Looks good! What did you use for universals front and rear? Yokomo ZC-422 for both, I had to use spacers to push the shaft inwards on the front to get them to sit correctly in the diff. I think for a runner it would be better to use the ZC-423 later YZ-10 ones as they are slightly longer or you cou...

Re: Alex B's WCS 1989 build

Completed car with body from Penguin, the wing is also Penguin one. I'm unsure about the wing buttons they are a similar colour grey to Yokomo 870c shocks. The wing wire came with I think a Buds wing from back in the day. The tyres are not correct for an exact replica but they are vintage Yokomo Hot...

Re: Alex B's WCS 1989 build

Completed chassis. The sticker on the upper chassis is from the Schumacher Masami CAT XLS kit. The battery posts are Fan RC and don't come drilled so I had to drill them for the r-clips, the nylon material is really hard and was a pain to drill - I ended up heating a small drill bit and melting the ...

Re: Alex B's WCS 1989 build

Front and rear suspension detail. The shocks are original Associated 0.71 and 1.02 stroke. The Fan RC kit comes with new reproduction shock towers but I used some original Yokomo ones I had. I had forgotten how much of a pain e-clips were...

Re: Alex B's WCS 1989 build

Front, rear and steering detail which are all from Fan RC. Originally I was going to use Kyosho C hubs but found they were giving horrible bump steer which I think was caused because the Kyosho hubs have additional caster so I reverted back to some original Yokomo ones. I think I'll get the Yokomo r...
