Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Thanks Gomachv. I had thought about that. Not a bad idea - put the old one to one side. To be honest, that approach is pretty consistent with the rest of my car, so I have no problem with it. I have added vintage hop-ups and some hand made stuff, but I have also kept all of the original parts in exc...

Re: Kyosho now on the re-re bandwagon - Scorpion
Hi everyone, Apologies if this has been covered earlier in this thread but I don't have time to read all 34 pages! My question is... are the new drivetrain parts (counter, spur, diff etc) compatible with the original. I have a Turbo Scorpion that I have restored but I'm reluctant to hammer it becaus...

Re: Scorpion Racer
RC front sway bar hey? Don't know that I've heard of this. I bastard iced an Optima rear sway bar for my Turbo Scorpion. I'll post photos in due course. I would be interested to find a bespoke front bar for the Scorpion series though.

Re: kyosho scorpion CRP,MRP, MIP METAL pinion and spur GEARS
That's friggin awesome. Want! The centre gear in my Turbo Scorpion is such a weak link. I want to use the car as it has been rebuilt and is ready to rockunroll, but the centre gears are likely to get shredded and they're so very hard to find :/

When was the Optima Mid Custom Special released? Last Optima
Hi all, It's been a while... had to move house etc. blah blah blah! Anyway, I've been fortunate enough to snag a really good Optima Mid Custom Special roller on eBay here in Australia. It'll go really well with the Turbo Scorpion that my parents bought for me as a kid, and the Optima Pro that I boug...

Re: Optima 'HARDENED' final pinion gear.
By the way, there's a new OT-76 hard final pinion for sale here:
http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=110951005595&ssPageName=ADME:B:SS:AU:1123
It doesn't look too expensive - about 25 Euros inc freight.

Do you mean the three self-tapping that hold the two halves together?highwayracer wrote: I've experienced that too...I found that the gearbox screws were too tight. Once I loosened them, the gearbox was smooth again.
Sorry that this has drifted off topic!!!

Re: Optima 'HARDENED' final pinion gear.
Yes, when new the parts are tight. And there is nothing to be done in the gearbox. They will wear in however. The outer gears can be adjusted though if you slighly oblong the mounting hole for the cluster gear shaft. This will allow you to move the cluster gear shaft away from the small counter gea...

Re: Optima 'HARDENED' final pinion gear.
I agree with ROH73. I've just installed a NIB OT-76 and it definitely has the single groove, the same colour as the one in his photo, and it is steel. Speaking of new hard final pinions, I've pulled the original chain diffs and stock final pinion out of an old Optima. I've installed the new OT-76 pi...

Yeah, I grabbed the chassis and motor plate. Pretty nice work isn't it?

Re: CRP/Turbo Scorpion Racer
Cool - I've used the Axial hubs but they're 4mm on one side and 5mm on the other, so they 'skew' a little when you tighten them up, which makes the wheels wobble a bit. Did you find HPI hubs with a constant 4mm bore? I'm slowly working on the custom delrin centre gears by the way... between building...

Cool - thanks mate
Out of interest, which 12mm hex drives did you settle on? Axial or HPI?
