Re: Traxxas buying up part of HPI?

Yep, that's the word. Someone was taking too much money out of the company and upset the shareholders, company went into voluntary administration and Traxxas bought HPI. Not clear if it's only Europe but speculation is it could be HPI world wide. At least that's what I've been told. Edit: Found this...

Re: Bearing kit

I think you meant (8) 3/16 x 3/8 for front bearings and trans.

You'll also need (2) 3/8 x 5/8 for the trans.

Re: Getting the big Fairlane back on the road.... Getting cl

Well it's finally happening after amost a year and a half. The engine is going in tomorrow. I finished the last piece of the puzzle testing the starting circuit. The radio plays, the lights and horn work, the starter spins, the ignition circuit works, the dash wiring has been repaired. The power boo...

Re: Novak ESC bad for modern racing?

2800 is quite a small battery. What is your lipo cut off set to, 3.2v? In 4wd short course many were experiencing similar problems. Under heavy load it was pulling the battery voltage down enough to hit cut off, the battery recovers and viola, your off again till the voltage drops again. Setting the...

Re: Novak ESC bad for modern racing?

How many were running Novak at the track? I think Novak has fallen off the pointy end when it comes to race gear but I don't think that would cause the issues you have. Was it intermittent? Did it just not have the power to clear the double?

Re: Getting the big Fairlane back on the road.... Getting cl

I would have replaced it with a $2 stud if it was easier. You have to pull the axle to get the rotor off and I think the FSM says to pull the axle to replace studs anyways. You can pound them out on the car and cleverly fish them back in but driving them home is tricky, especially without a hoist. T...

Re: Anyone good with car audio?

Pioneer got back to me and said the amp was an auto sensing input, so you couldn't have different inputs, only one or the other. In that case I should still be able to use a RCA high-low line converter for the rear speakers. When the sub was on it's own off [REAR/SUB.W] it played loooowwww. Lower th...

Re: Getting the big Fairlane back on the road.... Getting cl

Not really a big deal but I repaired a rear stud that had two damaged threads. Of course the first die I borrowed didn't fit so I had to specially order one in. It's one of those little jobs that should have only taken 5 minutes but took a few days to sort out  The days are also getting shorte...

The motor rule is my only complaint, I'd like to see stock and mod like the old days.

Re: Anyone good with car audio?

I've got everything wired up and playing now, man I've missed good sound. I can't believe how far low bass travels. The Pioneer components in the front are pretty crisp and I can't complain. I've got it all sounding pretty good but think I can improve a bit more by changing the wiring a bit. Basical...

Re: Soldering iron advise needed

I've used a duratech 80W iron for years, cheap and reliable too. The tip style is crucial to your solder job at hand. A pencil point is useless if your trying to solder bigger wire, the tip just can't transfer enough heat. I always use the broad or chisel tip. I've soldered 4awg amp power wire with ...

Re: Getting the big Fairlane back on the road.... Getting cl

Wired up the engine bay and tested the "new" harness. I also had to convert the original headlight plugs to suit H4 bulbs. So far everything light and horn related appear to be working as it should. I just need to test the ignition/starter circuit now, hook up the amp power wire and then w...
