Re: Shimming a gearbox open
Honestly if you aren't trying to run a stock class and looking for weight and friction reduction, and just running some high power motor, you won't see any appreciable different with any of your versions so far. Oil, no oil, seal no seal, screws snug or loose.

Re: Shimming a gearbox open
If you had some medium/thin ca glue you could possibly lay a bead along the edge of the housing with the flange. Allow to dry fully on a flat surface and you should get a consistent film. If that doesn't work it's easily removed with acetone.

Forgot to mention the aluminum threads can be really hard if not clean so it feels like you are tight, but the threads are just jammed. Little bit of grease helps here.

Re: RC10 DS steering wander - won't return to center, not trim issue
I'd take apart the servo saver side and make sure it's all cleaned up and working properly. Sounds like its gunked up and not returning properly and the spring is too loose. When you rebuild it, crank the spring nut down.

I will venture to say that I'm like 99% positive that someone lifted the stealth trans out of that CE. All the other pieces fit for it to have had one originally.

Re: Painting associated shocks ?
For something sitting on the shelf, paint works fine. Otherwise, as scr8p said, you can find most standard shock stuff still around. It won't be immediate but with a little patience you will find what you need. There are guys that sell shock pairs all the time on eBay. As for a 89 replica, unless yo...

Arms/5 links are the same. Wheel offset creates truck width.
Lxt has longer arms and deep offset wheels.

Strangely enough, he showed a picture on Facebook of a set of carriers with that hex, the same as you have confirmed. Maybe it is intended to help keep the hinge pin from rotating in the arms, vs the carrier? I can't say I've seen a pair myself.

Re: New mid motor build?
If you are talking about an rc10, you have the option of getting all new plastics and rear axles from a couple places.(minus the transmission). Transmissions and parts are still tough to source. If you are planning mid motor, a wise idea might be to find an rc10gt, and add an electric motor conversi...

Exactly. This might be vintage rc but really it's a community of like minded folks with varying interests. Definitely check in for time to time.
Hell, I don't actually remember the last time I actually started a post, it's been that long that I've had something new to share.

Proline wheels
Hot trick towers
Parma away bar, nerf guards and probably rod ends.
Andy's body and front arms.
Losi steering that is modified possibly.
Mip trans
Chassis is...... Maybe trinity or composite craft or one of the various versions.
Tires look like Schumacher

Yeah the paint on the springs was flaking off out of the box. The springs are stainless steel though, so no rusting.

The graphite car initially came with the protech II. I believe it is possible that later graphite cars may have come with a viper body.

Yes sorry, my mistake. Unidirectional is often layed out in isotropic patterns for strength, as Phin said.
