Have you tried the Traxxas Anacondas yet? They are a 2.2, modern, available, and inexpensive.

The nylon nuts are from Essentra Components. The 8-32 ones are part number 0700832LN or 0700832SLN. The 4-40 ones are part number 0700440SLN or 0700440LN.
