Re: Ford v Ferrari (spoiler alert)
My girlfriend and I saw it in the theater and really enjoyed it. There was a fair amount of creative license taken with it, and added drama, but most of the real story is the engineering effort that went into the cars that would have bored most people to tears. Shortly after watching it I came acros...

Re: Back when $#!+ was real....
I used to catch this once in a while. It was fun watching the trucks lose all their bodywork from contact, and I always wanted a Stadium Super Light. Eventually got on quads.
But have y'all see the Stadium Super Trucks craziness?

Re: "Chew Toy" recommendations
Lunchbox.....its a no brainer! Lol! Well, being slightly competitive, I'm aiming for her to NOT be able to catch the car. Pretty sure I'm only going to use this on a tennis court surface, and so I'm wondering about an older Touring Car, like a TC3, and putting a hot motor in it so I can really run ...

Re: "Chew Toy" recommendations
So, I pulled the trigger on an RJ Speed Spec 10. "Big Money" in RJ Speed terms, but it has a body shape I think is better for this, fits standard 1/10 scale bodies so I can replace it easily, is currently in production so parts are available, and has a basic rear suspension I'm hoping will...

Re: Front Hex wheels advantage??
I've done a fair amount of plastic part design with my work and I assumed the general shift from in-wheel bearings to hexs had a lot to do with manufacturability and, by extension, cost. Getting a good, consistent press fit requires good tolerance control. Pretty easy in metal, though it can get cos...

Vintage Electronics in a Modern Kit: What's going on here?
Browsing TLR's website to get ideas, I happened across this image, and was wondering what was going on with the very vintage electrics. http://www.tlracing.com/ProdInfo/Files/TLR03022-chassis1.png This was on TLR's page for the 22 5.0 Elite DC kit, due in September. http://www.tlracing.com/Products/...

Re: Rebuilding my JRX Pro-SE
I made a lot of progress this weekend, but am going to have to really think about wheels. I'll post the bulk later, but here's what the front end links look like right now. I think I have B4 hex conversion front wheels on there right now, which I needed to match the current width of the rear, but th...

Re: Rebuilding my JRX Pro-SE
Got a Tekin RS in the mail, today! Threw it right in just to get power to the car for the first time, so wiring is a mess. It's dark, cold, and rainy right now so just aligned the steering and scooted around the carpet a bit. Quite exciting! Has a really tight turn radius. But don't really have a fe...

Re: Rebuilding my JRX Pro-SE
Haven't made a lot of progress, lately for a couple of reasons. One is I've been messing around with this ESC to try and tame the motor. When I got it the throttle would hit so hard it would spin the differential. After playing around with the diff and clutch tensions and getting nowhere, I did a fa...

Re: Rebuilding my JRX Pro-SE
Been out of this for a bit. But, with the receipt of a couple of new project cars I decided I needed to, at least, get this one together and run-able, even if it's not pretty. So I assembled the threaded shocks with the tpu bump stops I made, using the Jack Johnson setup sheet piston/fluid combinati...

Re: So what did you get in the post today ???
Yes, I got another Lazer ZX, MOTHER...
Unlike the other two, this one looks and feels like somebody actually took care of it. Suspension doesn't bind, differentials are smooth, hinge pins don't appear to be bent, not all gritty.

Re: Barn find Rocky, belt drive conversion
The Brushless 240S looks pretty good in there. Just have to find a good way to route the ESC wires.
