It may be possible to press the gears off and swap them. I'm honestly not 100% sure though.

I used the TLU-01 on my M-06 VW Bus kit.
I also used the 3rd channel with an on/off switch for my Rx, to be able to turn the LED's off and on with the Tx.
I too found having to try and hook that all up to the 3rd channel on the Rx a hassle,...
