Can someone help me with a Schumacher time line, I only really need to know the release dates for the alloy tub 2wds and the glass fiber (I'm guessing they're glass fiber) chassis cars like the original CAT :?:

It pains me to say but in the early 90's I retired a topcat after I had moved on to something better . Ten years later I think it went in the garbage in a mass cleaning thinking it was worth nothing, I had no idea of the vintage scene then and had...
I bought a Top Cat as soon as they were released back in 88 or 89. Some of you might remember those Schumacher ads with the towel over the car so you couldn't see it, but there obviously were no front shocks. It was to be my first real race buggy...

Think you done pretty well there.. I'm gutted a missed the TC when it was rere'd
I found my old Cats on the loft, a Procat, Top Cat, Courgar Mrk.1 and the 30% left of my old XLS.
I´m rebuilding the Top Cat and Cougar first, they wil be upgraded to lipo and brushless.
I am struggeling a bit to find a...

My favourate tarmac ripper at the mo is the cougar classic i have all the french bits ..carbon chassis etc.. thought id send the link, most is the jc racing.
Clawing it's way out if a box of styrofoam peanuts is a decently nice original Top Cat! I was really happy to work out a deal for this TC with the buyer of a 4x Schumacher lot. Was a lucky connection after he bought my K1 Aero. The TC buggy design...

Very cool option! Underdog for Top Cat? 🤣 They had a little fun naming that one.
Yup Kevin Frewer has an interesting sense of humour, mind you he is a kiwi after all😂. His hand built tooling and machines are pretty impressive too! I was lucky...
Stung into FOMOS (fear of missing out Schui) having just sold my 2 Procats, I've started to resurrect the partscat I put aside years ago. (The bits left over from the restos with a fabricated carbon/kevlar chassis and fabricated rear trans casing...

Any updates on this one? How did it run? Cougar steering work out ok? Did you add a belt cover or run it exposed? With my luck I would not get very far with an exposed belt.
Wanted to check if anyone can date the U1617A SACS?

Nevermind. I found a scan of them and there is no date on it.
It did remind me that they also had one for the Losi XX. That didn't come out until late 1994. So I'm gonna stay with maybe 1994, but both could actually be in 1995. I know RCCA did an...
So, I notice that the Mission FT shocks can use the same alloy shock seal upgrade (U1818) as the Bosscat, some variants of Cougar 2, Cougar 2000, CAT 2000, etc... So the Mission shocks are like tiny versions of the old Vari-shocks
When...

You sure can, the later plastic vari shocks came with 1 piece shock pistons as standard
I need to rebuild 4 Vari-shocks for my Storm. I could probably skimp on the process as only 1 is leaking, but I would prefer to replace the o-rings as they are the originals. Are the re-re shock o-rings the same as the smaller ones in the...

If you don’t mind ordering from the Uk
Here are the seal kits u835
Hey guys as you may already know dirk has produced a very well presented mm conversion kit for the Schumacher cougar.
I was lucky enough to pick up number 10 of 10 in the first batch and here’s the build of it...

Man, this is a cool build. I really love the paintwork.
Thanks lavigna that is a massive compliment coming from a guy with builds of your quality👍🏼
Inspect the shock pistons if you are building a recent re-re Schumacher. The pistons below came with my Cougars, but it most likely applies to the Pro CAT as well. Others on the FB group have had similar issues. I didn't have any bad pistons with my...
Okay, I haven’t released too many projects lately, but… there is a good reason! 😅
As we all love old RC racers, and a benchmark of vintage racing was the Detroit Worlds 91’… we all know who won it, for 2WD. 😉...

I am the one who posted a pic of the C2 Team battery plate on the FB group, but that thread is locked to me now. I have no idea why, but it happens to random threads on that group.
If you can send (email?) me a UPS label, I will send you...
So am I the only one in the US still waiting (since June 10) for the re-re Cougar? I see several US residents on FB have them, even those who didn't get one from the first batch.
On a side note, it is awfully quiet here in the Schumacher section....

Did everyone who ordered back in the summer get their Cougar? I got mine last week.
I have a HW 10.5 for my Bosscat. The motor manual says to gear for ~8.00 final drive. I can, or could, achieve this with 28/92, except 21 is the largest pinion that will physically fit with a 92 tooth spur. (I don't have any smaller spurs.) 92/21 x...

For future reference- Drilling a 5/8 inch hole through the center of the Cougar/Top Cat spur gear worked perfectly. It bolted directly onto the Bosscat slipper.
This is probably old news to a lot of you. I just found it today.
I am posting it in the Schumacher section because you tend to see more CATs and Cougars at the Euros than elsewhere. The link is for page 5, but if you scroll to the bottom you can...
So, having acquired a couple of ebay rescues to restore, I have what was described as a Cat, which I assumed was a Cougar, but on more detailed investigation is probably an original Storm?
Was looking to grab one a few months ago but got sidetracked - now I can’t find on for sale under $875!? Think these will be made again or is this just how things are now with rarity and inflation?

I feel for you guys with “too many” cars - sounds like a real pain!
Ok so here goes my first try at posting on here
This is my first ever cougar bought it way back in 1990 and have owned it ever since

I have a decent Bosscat shelf-queen done in box art. The alloy bits are red, not purple, so I think it is a lesser spec: Competition versus Works perhaps. I had every intention of running it, but the body appears to have been professionally done (or...
Here is the topic dedicated to the restoration of my Cat SX3.
This one was acquired during an exchange with a member of another forum about 1 year ago. For lack of time and especially lack of desire, I had not looked into...
Spurred on by one of my RC mates, I decided to revisit this particular project.... the Schumacher Daytona. This is a 1:10 scale nitro pan car, produced in 1992/3. Being the smart people they were, Schumacher made their own chassis, added the .15...

Sorry Paul just saw this post may have a couple of options for what you need if you haven’t sorted it already. Flick me a pm and we can sort something out.
With many thanks to Alex he sent me this, a Schumacher Storm, something completely foreign and unknown. It's going to be a runner so it doesn’t have to be perfect.
I didn't take any before pictures so I'll post his

The front body mount that you’ve got a pic of looks like an original u387 shotgun bumper that’s been cut down and had the angle changed then mounted above the front lower plate with a cut down bumper mounted from below. Wouldn’t be to hard to do if...
One of these is a standard 'original' Cougar. I bought the other one (with the fat wheels) -and it was advertised as a Cougar -it needed plenty of parts and it was very rough, but there are a few variations between it and my original Cougar. I seem...

I wouldn’t really say mongrel 😂 it’s just what we did back in the day as Schumacher produced conversion kits that were way cheaper than buying a whole new kit.
The whole Ali pan series from top cat through were pretty much interchangeable parts wise...
So i have contacted the guy I sold my original and early CAT XL to recently - turns out he still has the car, which he modified for carpet racing bitd.
He has dug it out from storage for me to have a look at - i would love to have it back to...

Very nice. The Schumacher fitment ones are really shallow dish - especially the fronts to make sure the car remains within the 250mm width limit. It always amazes me how light they are.
Hello,
I recently purchased a partially built CAT XLS Masami Kit, it came with the upgraded transmission. I plan to build and run this car a fair bit. This is my first experience with a Schumacher kit. Due to the fact that this kit is now out of...

Complex and a pain to build. Very interesting engineering piece though. Injust need to find some time to finish mine. Any ideas on Schumacher’s next rere?
Hello! Does anyone know, or can anyone with a Cat XLS re-re take a measurement of these ball studs?
Are the balls 5.8mm diameter?
Thanks in advance! Cheers!
Restored a OG fibrelyte Schumacher cougar chassis , hours upon hours of wet sanding and around 4/5 coats of lacquer were required . Really happy with the turn out so far

I am currently working on the CAD to create my own RC10 custom gearbox with readily available internals. In my search for a diff with a gear 45T or smaller I found the Cougar Laydown diff which is available as dall as well...

Hey guys, I have 2 vintage Kyosho buggies and I was trying to source a wheel option and I bought the Schumacher U6760 set I figured worst case I can just use the tires on a set of 2.2 inch rims but I really wanted to use the wheels if possible....

I think that they used a 3/8 OD bearing, which is ~9.5mm.
Depending on the wheels, you might be able to open them up to 10mm. I don't know about bearing availability.
Or you might can try a piece of 3/8 to 5/16 shim bushing material. 8mm and 5/16...

Hi,
I want to rebuild and run my old Schumacher CAT from 1986, aslept for the last 30 years on a shelf.
This was one of the first kit imported in France, with short wheel base, I later convert it to an XL/XLS hybrid with long chassis, widened front...

Those are some great action shots, thanks for posting them.
FWIW, I don't believe my CAT's were ever the best jumpers. I'd always fiddle with shock oil and springs and never seem to get it perfect.
I also agree with you about the wind shovel mount,...
I have a CAT XLS re release and haven't built it yet but have a question about the assembly and motor.
I've been reading up on various builds but was wondering if anyone here has some assembly tips for me? Like what to pay attention...

The integrator is what makes this car unique. It is the perfect example of overengineering and the car is easier to setup and run without.
But this setup is part of its british charm.
