Been a long time since I posted something up on the forum.
Today, I will share the resto I did on this near mint Turbo Optima Mid.
This is the car as I got it from a buddy of mine:
The car was in decent shape, just took a hit...

I used clear silicone sealant on my latest build -- applying masking tape adjacent to the flanges on the covers to prevent the sealant spreading too far and creating a mess.
Then I applied a thin bead of sealant, fit the cover and added a few clamps...
As I mentioned a few weeks ago in the So what did you get in the post today -thread , I received a Kyosho Impress wreck as well as some parts for the Impress.
The Impress is Kyosho's mid-1990s electric Formula 1 car, and is an evolution of their...

Thanks. The latest controversy that led to the stewards taking a ridiculous amount of time to penalize some drivers was actually the reason I though I'd do something F-1 related not related to the current season
Had a Kyosho Optima Mid as a kid and upgraded with a Brimod (stick pack) long wheel base chassis, was a great car and i was reasonably successful racing at my local club. I subsequently sold all cars as I moved on to mountain biking. All these years...

I’m rebuilding a TOMS too. Unfortunately parts are definitely holding me up. Look forward to your decision!

That is the one! Thanks a lot, though i still have some stuff i need to get, any recommendations on servos and radio stations/recievers?
This isn't quite the usual order of build that I'd like to share. My 'donor' car is a vintage Kyosho Salute, that I'd assembled about 6 or 7 years ago. Some recent vintage parts that I was able to find led me to want to re-configure my...

Nice, I love those Cross upgrades. The Optima chassis in its stock form tends to push and understeer a little under acceleration, so hopefully your widened track will help it steer better. That's what I noticed when I made similar modifications to...

Howdy, you get your ride cleaned up and running? Update pics? Inspired by Optinutz I'm also converting one to electric. I'll get some pics of mine up soon.
So I have never done a build thread before, I usually forget to take pictures as I tend to work in spurts - aka get distracted and buy new projects instead of completing existing ones.
Case in point, instead of buying the body, decals and tires to...
Kyosho's decision to re-release the 1/12 Fantom has really helped introduce to the world today an iconic model back then better known domestically.
Interestingly they picked the 1983 version and not the Fantom EXT. The 1983 Fantom had basically no...

I'm also extremely impressed by your photographic skills. I'm the world's worst photographer. I can't seem to take a decent photo to save my life! :(...
I actually built this over a year ago and made several YouTube videos about the process (below), but figured I'd post here for posterity, with a few extra pictures and commentary.
This was raced at VONATS in 2019, but I made changes since then....

So after some looking I think optima front carriers are a bust as the lower pivot point is on the inside. It would push the track out like 3/4 of an inch on each side if i used those. Not even sure what front shafts I'd need then but certainly not...
Random FB Marketplace search for Kyosho one night ended up with a result for a 1979 Eleck Rider 1/6 Motorcycle just on the other side of the state from me. At that point, that was all I knew about it, other than the seller had just reduced the price...

The fuel lubricates it so just dip it in some fuel when you put it back in. There might be a bearing in there so check that it hasn't come apart, and it may have a little check ball and spring in there as well so just make sure you don't lose that...
Well, it has taken some time but I’m finally here. After over 40 years in the surface RC hobby this will be my first venture into Stadium Trucks and I’m very much looking forward to it. I’ve been looking for a project truck to pop-up for sale for...

There are needle rollers that run against the slack side of the belt for each pulley. Apparently this prevents belt skipping, allowing for low belt tension and reduced overall rolling resistance.
I am thoroughly impressed!
Since I’ve been putting off building my NIB kit for so long. I though I’d add this to the shelf. Super clean truck, couldn’t have been run much at all. I pulled all the decals because they were placed pretty random and they were dirty and lifting....

I never ran a Kyosho back in the day, so have picked one up to scratch my itch, and see how it compares to the Yoko and Cat.
If anyone has any pointers or advice on the ZX-R, please let me know.
It has been awhile since I have been on this forum but it is great to be back, have missed it. This is my first non-Yokomo project outside of the occasional RC10T & GT but after finding this poorly listed Kyosho Burns on the bay, I shot the seller...

Yea, the most future proof upgrade would be swapping the whole transmission to RB5/RB6 rear motor transmission. But for that you need RB5 main chassis and RB5/RT5 rear chassis plate and the whole RB5 transmission.
I hope everyone is coping with the pandemic as best you can.
