Looking to resurrect the TRX-1 I used to race when I was a teen. This car has some club race wins on it, as well as a 92' Mountain States Off Road Championship 1st place finish in 2WD Stock A-main. I was a kid back then, and bought one of the first...

Looks Great!!! Those Slash carriers come in clutch when nothing else works! I've been running the older Bandit style wheels... love the dish, and the fact that they still use the pin-style axles. Also love that you have some nice blue hardware in...
Apparently I have a Traxxas TRX .12 or .15. From a question I asked earlier it seems a Rustler is pretty close to this. Unless they are actally the same. What I want to do it to put on rear swing arms that don't toe the rear wheels as much as the...
Last post
I did as suggested and got the toe almost to 0 degrees. I really don't need it neutral but thats how it came out by switching the rear swing arms. I did order some degree blocks and the 1.5 hub carrier to get the toe closer to my SRT electric truck....
I'll soon have a parted-out Bandit in my possession, my first Traxxas. I can't say I've ever seen a Bandit rolling on anything other than the stock chrome five-spokes which I find to be kinda ugly. I know they use a pin-drive mount on all four...
I got this from a friend clearing out some stuff. I have no info on it tho except a TRX Nitro engine manual. So I guess its a traxxas TRX? Either a .12 or .15 engine in it. It was filthy but cleaned up ok. I put new bearings on all four corners (had...
I wanted to share my slipper conversion to dual pad slipper clutch.
Since the classic Traxxas slipper already is double sided I was searching for spur gears that would fit the center bushing. Well I was not successful doing that so I...

Looks great!!! May have to give something like this a try on my zombie TRX-1 :)
My son has a bandit and it is a pretty stout car. He has gotten used to it on 2S and I had a large 3S battery that I was not using (I crashed the airplane it came from) and I wanted to put it to use. I bought the 3725X battery expansion kit and it...
I picked up the STRC layshaft to run the associated slipper, and some of the parts that they list to use with the shaft are discontinued. What are the alternatives to use? The 5-40 locknut I can find, but the 9605 slipper spring I can't find. What...
I have been looking for some replacement pivot balls for an old Bullet I am trying to get to running condition. Originally these were available as Traxxas part number 1642 which included both the pivot balls and rod ends. This part number is no...

I believe the 1942 set has the four round shank ends for the shock rods as well. They fit the underside of the spring cup and are slightly shorter as well. The balls in the 1942 kit fit the older style white and gen2 black rod ends. As previously...
I was finally able to hit the track with my Bandit and I was severely under geared. Started with a 84/24 then went to an 84/27 and ended the day with an 84/31. And I still was not able to clear the jumps I should have been able to. Also, with the 31...

I got my Kimbrough spur gears in and was able to use one of their 69tooth options. The friction pegs fit in fine and the center hole where the hex bushing goes was just a few thousandths to big and there was just a little bit of movement. But I put...
So as the title says I bought an original tmaxx .15 complete with the box and all the paperwork. I found a clear body online and I’m gonna send it out to get painted(box art). From the pics it looks to have maybe 10 minutes runtime on it. I’m really...
So I've been working on my Bandit, and one thing that really bugged me was how sloppy it was. I was able to shim out most of the suspension slop, but one area that I just couldn't tighten up was the rear wheels. There was too much play between the...

I also have slop in the rear hubs of my Radicator Experts. I was planning to use flanged bearings on the inner side to tighten things up. Still have to order those though.
I have an old Traxxas TRX-10 Bullet that is in pretty sad shape. I would like to get it to drivable condition and need to replace many of the parts. One part which is very difficult to locate is the front bulkhead or arm mount. I believe this is...

Chewbacca - Thanks for the picture. This does make it clear that it would be as simple as cutting flush with the shock tower mounting surface. And, good to hear that the upper shock tower mounting points are the same. This may give me a relatively...
So I’ve seen a few versions of the mid motor Rustler and Slash on this forum and the Traxxas forum, and I decided to give it a try myself. Except I want to do a Bandit. I’m starting from nothing and going from there. I did pick up a partial roller...

Definitely watching with great interest. I've wanted to do a mid-motor build of my own design for years. With 3-d print and cnc-routers becoming more commonplace, i may have to jump into it. Cant wait to see how yours pans out.
I posted this on the Traxxas forum but probably should have done it here on RC10Talk.
Does the Bandit have any performance potential when compared to buggies like the old RC10 Championship Edition or Losi JR-X2? I'm not looking for something on par...

Since the chassis itself has no kickup, and the original Bandit / Rustler chassis is like a dime a dozen the mod can be quite simple, unless you want to be able to change the wheelbase back again.
So to shorten the chassis I would simply cut the...
Been a few years since I’ve logged onto the forum, but I’ve had a bit of a resto/rebuild bug bite whilst I’ve had a couple weeks leave, have already knocked over a Monster Beetle, and am more than halfway through a Turbo Optima with belt drive....

Wow! Incredible build. I need to check out the Traxxas section more often.
Yup, I was think'n the same thing...nice job!
Same here, I need to pay attention more. I have a Bullet in storage from one of my childhood friends that's just waiting...
Picked this up from a buddy a couple days ago. Cleaned it up a little to assess if it was something I wanted to restore or pass on to someone else. I have to say, this truck seems weird to me. It's a cool truck, but seems to have some oddities....

It's not in bad shape. The front of the chassis is a little rough, but fixable. A few of the original white parts have been replaced with black ones over time and the rear arms are mismatched. Both are white and the same dimensions, but the one on...
So I'm starting to do some research on doing a Scott Montgomery replica circa the 92 nats. I know he used a losi ball bearing steering crank but I'm unsure of the electronics. The most I could find is a Novak ESC, Peak motor, Airtronics radio, Orion...
the concept - build a modern track capable truck based on the LS2 chassis thats actually competitive, tall order i know  .. anyway not much of the bling in the photo will be utilized .. weight and function is the goal on this build there will...
I've always had a soft spot for old Traxxas stuff like the Bullet. When the TRX-1 came out BITD, I was really intrigued. I'm not overly knowledgeable on Traxxas stuff, but how much of the TRX-1 DNA made it into the Bandit we know today? I have this...

that is kinda crazy. Around me the bandit gets treated like the red headed stepchild of the family.
Yeah, I know. It seems like Stampedes and Rustlers are more popular but the prices on these used Bandits around me are nuts. On my local trade...
Looking for suggestions for some aftermarket shocks for a rustler or bandit. There doesn't seem to be anything between the no-name Chinesium garbage and the grotesquely overpriced Traxxas parts.
Last post
Traxxas hard anodized shocks with titanium coated shafts are $30 or less a pair. If that is too expensive I would stick with the plastics. You won’t find a better quality shock imo for that price. The cheap threaded eBay/amazon shocks are garbage.
I cant recall when these came out late 80s early 90s? 1/6th scale, there was also an on road version, wish I had that.
Mine has not been ran much or bashed, i ran it once several tanks many years ago....

I remember a time people wanted to replace batteries and motors with nitro engines, now a trend is to replace nitro with modern electrics, which too...
So after losing out on an old school Bandit to build up a mad idea I had, I bought a clapped out Blue Eagle on Ebay. At first glance, it's a basket case. I've been searching the site for a while for details about these and seems to be that I may...

Whoa!!! Nice work. I love those dished wheels. And the black and white parts look fine. I'm definitely not a purist when it comes to making and old TRX rig whole again. Dig the old school spikes too.
As you might know I have a big soft spot for Traxxas' first race buggy. As lockdown is getting looser now and the onroad track is reopening, and I'm back to team manager / main mechanic maintenance slave for my team (composed of myself,...

Thanks for the info - I am using a product which looks pretty darn similar to this:

I am looking for an alternative body for the Traxxas Nitro Buggy. The Original has an cage around it. Does anyone know a body which fits nicely around the outlines of this chassis? I looked at the bandit body, but I am not sure, has anybody...

Of course that's a trx1 body on same chassis for comparison. Body could go down in front but hits the tub sides already.
I won't rehash the story again and again about how surprised one can be at the shape some runners are sold as... So I basically started rebuilding a TRX-1 from fresh parts, as I need it to compete in the last round of the vintage class in...

Apparently Traxxas won a lawsuit against Hobboco/Aarma regarding the laydown shock design. From what I've read, all AARMA trucks with laydown shocks are on hold. It is hurting Tower Hobbies as well. Its a shame and doesnt make much sense. Schumacher...

I just needed a rig for mock up. This fit the bill a lot better than $400....
I really liked the Bigfoot 1 body that Traxxas released, but I immediately thought of putting it on the Super Clod, with the Bigfoot scheme, but decided to save the Bigfoot decals for a future Blackfoot.....

It’s been a while since I posted anything on this, so here it goes.
I’ve widened the front end with the RPM wide arm kit.
Hobbywing Brushless system.
And added a set of Jconcepts Midwest wheels and some Proline Destroyer 2.2 tires.
In the midst of getting into this hobby and seeing what's out there, I picked up a near-mint Bandit. Had to replace the MSC servo, lube the steering servo, and get a NiMh battery, but after that it worked flawlessly. I let my kids bash it around at...

I used a set of LS2/SRT rear hexes on my TRX1 and AE/Losi style rear wheels, no issues. For the front, I was able to get a hold on some Team C (not sure what the UK brand name is) front carriers/knuckles for hex. Fit right into the arms like they...
I bought this radicator from ebay
now I do not know whether it is a graupner or a traxxas?
I know that the traxxas has white chassis and suspension
but the graupner normally has a narrow front bumper and is black
do you know?

I use 3% too. You can find 6% at the chemist I believe, and from memory it's the same price as the 3%, so I just dilute 50/50 to make 3% as it goes further. If you use too strong of a solution it goes chalky and powdery. Many use UV light but the...
