G'day Guys
Finally finished my sons Sand Scorcher. Took it for its first run yesterday. Very Cool.
Sits on a custom alloy chassis, adjustable oil filled coil overs, Sport tuned motor, fully ballraced.
Not the best pics but I will get some better...
Well, I convinced the wife to get up early last weekend to get to the sales right when they open, and I am glad I did! I scored this lot of a clod rtr with some nice hopups, a HPI RS4 rtr and a basket case nitro RS4. All for $100 :D The clod had a...

The chassis is from a Bullhead, (same as a Clod, but in red instead of black) but everything else looks like standard Clod parts.
The Heavy Metal Lunchbox thread got me motivated to freshen up my LB with some upgrades.
These are some pics of the CRP front end conversion kit that I just recently installed(much better photos than the ones I previously posted). The kit is made...
i had a sand scorcher that was heavily modded. it had a aftermarket ball diff and 48 pitch brass internal gears. it was the same layout as the steath!! i just wanted to point out that tamiya had it right the first time. i sold the ultimate collector...

yernat is right. The earliest MIP tranny used gears compatible with tamiya's Sand scorcher tranny. Then when eustace made the SP1 that still used the same gears.
I was able to squeeze some project time in today to get this CRPed Re-re frog off the in process table (short of a body). My CRP stash is running a bit thin these days, but I tried to muster up as many parts that could with what I have left. Also...

errr, what does that mean? It doesn't stroke withone of the suggested paintthemes, nor am I ready to believe you are going to actually run it ;)
This truck has JG shock mounts and front shock tower brace. Parma spindles. And a few CRP parts. I mounted a roll bar on the lexan body with some repro KC decals . I had to make some 1/8 inch spacers for the front roll bar mount to level it out. I...

That's pretty cool. I have four old blackfoots and I just got a set of aluminum wheels today. I have the parma body also. It looks good but it cracks really easily where the cab and bed meet. The lexan is really thin right there. yes sir.. cracked...
Anyone know the story behind the black boxed Tamiya Mercedes C-11? Did they re-release a re-release? I also noticed that Tower has them in limited qtys again. I would post a pic, but I can't get to one from work at the moment...... This is what I...

Maybe it should just be thought of as sporadic breaks in production with this one.
I bought this for my son, me and the wife assembled (mostly her) and I painted.
Had to be bright so he could see it well. Overall a very fun kit to build! It's got full bearings, and I will be dropping in a Sport tuned motor as soon as I get it...

the second buggy i owned, always loved its looks. nice examples guys
I am all for the re-release thing, making stuff that is out of reach in terms of cost available to everyone, BUT COME ON ALREADY, where is the new stuff. Yes, I know there are some new releases mixed in, but the re-res seem to over shadow/out number...

dude, you live in Brooklyn and your trying to eat BBQ????
Have some Pizza! and chase it with a canoli
(I'm just geographically jealous, having grown up in Queens, upstate NY pizza sucks big time.)
I started this project with a pile of old TA02 parts originally from a Promarkt Mercedes Benz C class. I then collected some new bearings, Hummer parts, which are exactly the same except they come in black, and replaced a few worn parts, so I now...

you should get one of teambluegroove's repro interiors for this
Was wondering, since I have been having a hard time figuring out how to do the 1.9 conversion up front. ANy help is appreciated, and if you can help with the 1.9 conversion even better.

I don't need the brat wheel adapters, the Hornet-hopper ones will work huh? Cool Thanks
Since it is not a secret that Tamiys is going to re-re the SRBs soon and a lot of SRB guys would not mind a 4wd conversion, I think we shall try to petition one of the aftermarket manufacturers to also develop a SRB 4wd conversion kit or simply...

Didn't the SRB 4wd use a speedo cable to power the front tranny. The ones I saw looked interesting but far from something I would want to invest loads of cash in just to have a unique piece. There's lots of other cars that interest me more. Just my...
ok there is a thread exciting news that already deals with the re-release rough rider, i did not notice that. but where
is my posting with the german link? any reasons to remove this?
I found this 84 or 85 bruiser this last week. Fella bought it second hand in 1985 and only drove it a few times. Lots of original still on the tree spare parts as well. Obviously missing the rear view mirror, but also had the tires changed (dry rot...

thats a real nice find...always wanted a Bruiser..unless i find a super deal i dont see myself geting one..besides the world/ebay has made me dislike these trucks .. its like i dont want to really use a truck that if mint can be worth $2000 or...
A few years back i was blessed whilst trawling through ebays vintage section when I came across a MINT condition FAV. At $250usd I was stoked to finaly have a flawless example.
Unfortunately I needed some money in a hurry a while back and it was...

It definately moves better now, but is still very noisy (whining). Is that just the Nature of them, or can they quitened   ? Only ran it for about half a Pack, so I'll check it out a bit more tomorrow.
I just picked this up recently on Craiglist. I drove about a hour to pick it up and ended up spending another hour talking rc with the seller and tinkering around with the car before I went home. Its actually a Celica Gr.b with the Porsche body set...

what a great find. If you plan to run it much, then you should invest in the aluminum suspension parts off of ebay. The front arms and and knuckles have plastic that is not UV stable. My new built shelf sitter even has a broken knuckle just merely...
I've been looking at the new Tamiya Lamborghinis. They look pretty cool. They've got the 1/12 Tamtech version, and the 1/10 TT-01E version. I've never had either platform. Anybody have any experience with either of those chassis'? Will the Tamtech...

I have a few of the Tamtech porsches and the off road fox and frog. They are really a slick engineered car with it's inboard front dampers. They accept mini radio, battery and ESC gear just like what you would use in an 18T or Mini T. I dropped a...
I'm looking at ditching the stck friction 'shocks' on my M-03 and I was thinking maybe some Associated RC18B shocks might do the trick-Has anyone tried this,or know the measurements of the RC18B shocks?
Or another option,besides the Tamiya...

Nice pics James.
I well put togeather Tamiya 4wd always goes well.
Its ashame to me that alot of people think that they are only for beginners.
Think about it.
Tamiya always had a MID 4wd motor placement unlike some others.
Thought I'd show ya'll what a Team Bluegroove repro BigWig body looks like on a car.
I just popped it on a parts car,to check the dimensions, still a little trimming to do.
It's for my NIP BigWig build....Getting there!
Couldn't resist popping the...

Did a search but there is too many post with the word nylon in it..
I am looking to fab up a set of a-arms for my hotshot. I need to buy some nylon sheet. Does anyone know what type of nylon I need )6/6 ect)? How about a good (cheap) source for it...

try mcmaster carr. either nylon (6/6 is common) or delrin (acetal). probably 1/4 thick or 3/8 thick will be sufficient.

Here is how I did the swaybar on my Frog. Used Losi hardware.
The center shaft is a cut down Savage bulkhead tube, notched for e-clips.
Going to make new sideplates out of carbon this week (vintage ones look like ass).
Will road test later (rain) and...

Yea, I am trying to get some more on power steering and the inside front to stop lifting in turns. Everything workes good on the bench. As long as the bar is not too big it should work ok. I am a bit worried it will lift the inside rear now as it...
This is my finally finished Wild one. It will be raced in the up coming Sydney Vintage meet, I have transplanted the entire rear end from a RE RE frog into the Wild one, making it very reliable.

I just totally stole a Technigold motor in great working condition for $10!
The only problem is,the decal had been removed, which is also why I got it so cheap-the guy advertised it as an old Mabuchi motor !
Is anyone printing repro Technigold...

I may still have a can: going to have to dig deep to find it and check if it has the sticker on it.
Bitd Graupner also sold these moters in their own boxes, bit cheaper than the same moter in the tamiya branded box

So here is a question,

So I tore project Free frog apart to find that most everything was shot.
I had a few bits from it that were still good though. I also had a all new built Frog roller with a working Thorp dif. in it that had about a 1/4 of dust on it. Frogs and Brats...
Just finished this Brat for a friend of mine , he hasnt' seen it yet so I hope he likes it. Painted in Tamiya Silver Leaf with Gunmetal for window surrounds. I think I might detail the rear tray a little more before I give it to him.
Just have to...
Well this is what I've been spending most of my hobby time on lately, my Astute 2009 racer, the thread below covers the major part of the build (RRC 1991 Works Conversion)

Unfortunately its not an article :( its a picture from an old RC mag one of the big toy shows. Tamiya were displaying their latest cars...
A bud gave me a few free cars the the other day.
This is going to be a runner for sure! It will be nice to have one that I don't
have to worry about vintage parts. :)
Thinking about a Lexan Brat body....
Any other ideas? P1000860.jpg P1000861.jpg

So the project took a turn in direction. The free Frog chassis had the ears shaved off of the body mounts so I could not mount a Brat body. I ended up mounting it on my re-re until I can find a cheap Frog chassis.
Found a box of old motors lastnight...
Fakiee nice project Sir 8) what are you going to do to eliminate the slipping issue of the Astute ball diff :?: It won't be too bad if you never intend running anything hotter than standard motors but if you want to go modified at any point I see it...
I bought a Boomerang in pretty sad shape a few months ago, with intentions to convert it into a BigWig,like I used to do when I was a kid...Once it got here,I realised that it wasn't gonna happen,so I cleaned it up and sold it.
