I know there are holes in the list, but we can continue to build on this as we go. It's fairly comprehensive thus far, so hopefully this can help those of you who are looking for the general information on these motors. Feel free to offer...
Got this motor together with a bunch of old brushed motor, cleaned it and checked if it works (yes!:). The label is unfortunately damaged. Will do comm cut next! Does anyone have some info about this motors? Maybe some old add? From the info on the...

Came across another one, suspiciously familiar car in this ad….
Check out the address as well.
While testing some vintage Futaba Magnum and Megatech Jr transmitters, I noticed that the batteries and battery holders were very tight. Like separating the transmitter handle tight.
After doing a little research, I found that AA batteries are...

I'm still working on the AAA adapters but I did find some that fit.
Went by Dollar Tree and bought some cheap HD batteries.
The Panasonic Heavy Duty (not alkaline!) are 13.8mm
The E-Circuit Heavy Duty are 13.7mm. Looking at the display, I think...
Finally found one! But I’m wondering if it’s all original. Please see pics. Seems like an older Trinity endbell with Yokomo springs, yokomo timing ring and Trinity or yokomo can. Let me know what you think

Ok. This is what I have. When I opened it I noticed it was a double turn. Can and end bell match this too. Thanks a bunch
Older MTM, 19x2. Team Losi/Japan on can, just positive symbol and no brush hood heat sink.
I have recently acquired this vintage GM HEL 4000 Universe ESC. I know that this exact same speedo appeared on here several years ago.
The seller (maybe a member here as well) sent the ESC with a copy of the German manual. I still can't properly...

Managed to get it to run. Apparently the 'alarm' from the instruction is made by the motor whining (yes, after you connect it), similar to some of the modern esc (Castle). This ESC is really one of a kind, probably very similar to the Tekin 410K. I...
Hello everyone,
I'm new to this forum and would be greateful for help in identifying some brushed motors I own (really enjoy the feel of vintage tech).
Recently bought a bunch of old motors on ebay and trying to make them fit again.
Can someone...

Yeah, these motors were imported to, and sold in, the US by Polk Hobbies under their Aritso-Craft brand. You can find adverts for them in some 1988 issues of the RCCA scans that give an RPM rating, and what class of RC the motors were meant for. The...
The Trinity EX Tech Experimental motors usually come with grey can and endbell and golden brush setup.
I got a different version with purple can and endbell and silver brush setup.
The label is exactly the same as with the other version.
I tried to...

But you could find GM labels on Trinity/Epic or HPI cans.
Or even certain Kyosho cans. But those are super rare because they were prototype or team motors and never went to the public.
Actually I own a good collection of old brushed motors, but there is not a single Igarashi based motor which comes with the tape to hold the endbell.
Now I have a couple of projects for such Igarashi based motors but I wonder which tape would be...

Living in Europe it seems Mylar tape is not that easy to find.
I have seen something what seems to be similar or same as Mylar but wide is 12 mm.
Today I found one of my Trinity motors which also uses black tape. It is 1/4 .
But I have seen others...
One of the reasons I dislike brushed stock motors is the non-rebuildable construction. I know an endbell can be popped off, but it doesn't usually go back on well or fit tight again. So I have a bunch of worn out motors that I'm thinking about...

I don't give up on motors until they're basket cases. The Competition Stock is intent on being a smoker. The 240ST had some running issues and is rusty. If someone has a use for a box of non-runner motors, PM me a mailing address. Most of them don't...
I customized and calibrated my motor dresser, it just wasn't cutting it in stock form, the level slider didn't do anything, absolutely no way to adjust voltage, what u put in it was going to the motor...now I can run it on my 12v power supply for...
There's a Demon motor that has this unusual extra feature on the side of the can. It's a removable endbell modified motor, so this feature shouldn't be associated with holding the endbell to the can. Any thoughts what this could be for? I'm...

Hi,
also i had some old good Power Kings in the Past. Great Motors for the Kyosho Optima and Optima Mids.
Best regards to V12.

Here is my vintage Simprop radio, made in Germany. Originally this was a 40mHz FM version, as per the box, but when I got it the HF module inside was missing. I've only been able to find a 35mHz unit so far. I think that's a frequency only to be...

Simprop radios always have had a very good reputation in R/C flight competition. But they were also some of the most expensive.
The Car Profi was the very first radio to use functions as dual rate and servo reverse in car control radios.

Share pics of motors that you particularly like in your collection!
I will start off and share two in my collection that I particularly like simply because they look beautiful (having nothing to do with performance of course). Look at all those...

Not THE motor, but my best racing memories were with the B&R Magnum. So I was stoked when one came attached to a buggy I picked up a while back. Now it will be on display in a build I am working on (slowly).

I recently picked up a nice little Hitec Shredder RCD 75mhz AM receiver, however it's marked AIR so I presume it's tuned for Airtronics. There's no real wiring markings on it and I have no 75mhz AM Airtronics radio. Is there any way to test this...

That Dynamite MicroPro has old style Airtronics servo sockets, so it should need a Airtronics crystal.
I have two, Futaba and Airtronics versions. The manual says to use crystals that match the transmitter.
Anyone have a idea which vintage motors came with a 13x3 armature? I am building a kinwald XXT and I am in need of a 13x3 armature and cannot wait any longer for integy to get theirs in stock. So figured to get a list together on what motors used...
So I have recently purchased one of these Speed Gems 2 Sapphire motors for a vintage BK1 XXX project i have and noticed that they come at a seemingly higher price than the other Speed Gems motors. Is there a reason for this? Thank you for any help...

In the hunt for good deals I tend to pick up used ESCs and receivers in need of a little rework.
These 2 Novak ESCs needed the standard case cleanups, wiring unsnarling, receiver connector repair, and power switch replacement. For the switches I...

I like restoring the Novak 410 esc's...once you make a couple bad buys on some not working units, you have spare parts to pretty up working ones, lol.
I've been watching these Tekin 900 dynos sell from $70 up to $300. I found one toward the lower half of that price range and decided to snag it.

The Tekin Dyno doesn't seem to like this power supply. The power output keeps cycling between 11.98v and 12.17v and the Dyno test motor keeps increasing and dropping revs. I tried out a 14v 10a Novak N-power supply and I get a good steady motor...
I brought up this idea in someone else's thread, so I'm bringing it up here instead of continuing to de-rail theirs.
Since there's a lot of us folks who buy and/or collect old brushed motors, I thought it might be useful if we had a sticky thread...

That is precisely correct. :)
What I've found about brushed motors from doing the reference guide is things were very loosely structured in many ways. I wouldn't be surprised if like mentioned, different brands of endbells, cans, etc... were used...
Spotted this as part of a Ultima pro rebuild in an auction site here in New Zealand.

I have 3 brushed modified motors and they're all based on the same Epic 5.0 can. Just wondering if there's a name for this generation of motor? Or just Epic 5.0?
This is an interesting one, and I have been looking for one of these for quite some time... even without knowing what they actually looked like.
About a month a good friend of mine was looking to buy an Optima, and in the background of one of the...

Had a cobra comm lathe, trinity motor machine, and several le mans motors years ago, when brushless came on the scene sold it all off! (never sell your cool shit)

I picked up some old Tamiya stuff and cant seem to get the Tx hooking up with the Rx. Have tried a few variations. The one common is the same set of crystals.
Do they fail after some time?

Very old thread, I know, but I am new to the site and reading up on old stuff when I should be working  Yes, crystals can go bad. A crystal is just a wafter that vibrates at the frequency indicated when electricity is applied. They don't expire...

As per title, an early esc by I & D electronics, also responsible for the Spectron lexan car. Haven't had a good look at it yet or tried to see if it works. The Parma motor looks to have been supplied by MG.

Note, I'm not asking how much something may be worth, I know that's verboten. The title is probably poorly worded. I'm just wondering if there's folks who still like to use old long-antenna crystal-based radios for nostalgia's sake? Personally can't...

Pretty sure it's a 19turn triple wind. However, if you have a silver dot with the same can/color motor label, it's a 19 turn double. I've got both, but in all honesty....you never really know what you have until you open the can. It was sooo easy to...

Or whatever reel bearing oil that you can find locally. Just be sure to get oil, not one of the high speed lubricants (like Hot Sauce).

Bit of a scoop here... I seem to have stumbled across a bit of a Novak servo haul.

I am trying to wrap up my Sledgehammer, and have run into a snag. The Traxxas 2201 Tx does not have St and Th reversing switches, and my XL-1 ESC is interpreting forward as reverse, and vice versa. I could reverse motor wires, but I don't know if...

I was trying to find some info on this motor...reading online, I saw an article that said this was wound as a 14/4. Assuming that's correct, did this particular motor - same label, etc, come in any other winds?

Normally the lower the wind the more more torque a motor makes compared to the same turn motor with a higher wind. For example a 14 x 1 would produce more torque whereas a 14 x 2 would produce more RPM, and so on. As the number of winds increase the...
