Recently bought this from eBay and will use it as the basis for a custom build.
Losi Jr. 2 NIB
Losi Jr. 2 NIB
Losi Jr. 2
Losi Jr. 2
Really want to do a 5-Link conversion but the angled rear shock mounts seem to be near impossible to find :( :x

Need to start assembling a shopping list......

Great basis for a custom build! Are you keeping the plastic chassis if you go 5 link? I have seen only a couple that have.

And would it be possible to get a scan of that decal sheet? :D

Yeah, I specifically wanted the molded plastic chassis as I think it looks way better, IMO, than the flat graphite chassis of the JRX2. However, I can't take the credit - that goes to Chris with the Mini Moke. Seeing his gave me the inspiration for what I want to do.

(Thanks, Chris!)

Not a problem at all! I actually adore the losi Junior chassis as well, I would love to find more of them in good condition :)

As for the shock connectors on the 5 link... I actually hate the stock mounts, I have gone with normal losi lower shock mounts myself. It does move maybe 1/8 inch freely up and down, but it makes dealing with the shocks that much easier. I would imagine if you could use a Tamiya or similar shock end that has no ball to pivot on you could get rid of that rocking. As for that Junior 2 of mine, if I could find the right stock parts I actually plan to rebuild it stock! lol

So... are you going to be using those 5 spoke naturals in that custom build? And would it be possible to get a scan of that decal sheet? :D

Chris
Hey, don't they just. It was seeing yours that gave me the idea to give it a go in the first place. I thought about building it from all NIP parts but soon realised that the cost would escalate all out of proportion. Finding this solved most of the problems like original body, wing and gear cover plus items like the tranny case, battery clip and front bulkhead. This way is definitely going to be cheaper but I will still need turnbuckles, shock towers, some bearings, side bulkheads etc. (see it's already starting to mount up!) plus I'd like to fit a slipper clutch in place of the standard fixed spur gear. Any ideas on the correct Losi part number for this?

Happy to help out with a scan of the decal sheet for you but not sure about the "how". Any ideas???

Karl

Don't know if you're aware but Bearrickster's got one for sale in his BST thread. Part # A-4046 which also includes the top brace.

Do you think it was a fair price that I paid??? I certainly haven't seen any NIB Losi's (pre-XXX) on eBay UK that I can recall so I had to jump at the opportunity.

That actually looks OK. I hadn't even considered that they would fit without the original JRX2 angled shock mount... :D

Why did you go with the retro fit transmission? Was it due to lack of the original case or was it to use the Hydra-Drive?

Because I bought one new in box 8 years ago and had nothing to put it on... It has never had power put through it.

Crazy as it sounds I have gotten more use out of the box then I have the transmission! Lol

Chris

P.S. the overall theme of the car was all the best stuff from Losi that I could bolt onto it went on it along with some select upgrades. ProSE front end and rear shock tower, 5 link rear end with Robinson racing side bulkheads as they have no flex, retro tranny as it's the most modern one that bolted to the chassis, it has a white aftermarket ball bearing steering rack The front took standard buggy short front shocks but with the se tower and 5 link it needed the extra long rear shocks... and a rear motor plate and front bulkhead that says jrx2 just because :)

There is a downside to all this "newness" because, and I'll be the first to admit, that I have issues.....why oh why do I feel a reluctance to open the bags and start building??? :(
