Losi xx4 rebuild

Post by mikea96 »

Have always wanted one of these but never got around to buying one. This one popped up in the bst so i snatched it up. Needs at least the side belt that i can see and a body. I will try and locate a new chassis and some wheels and tires and switch to the losi natural ballcups. This has the trinity outdrive savers on the rear. Over all the car looks to have not been used much.

these damn things are addictive Mike so watch out 8) .

Parts are popping up all over ebay lately so they haven't been too hard to find. Most of the times though they are in 'lots' so you might have to pay a little more but still not expensive. Looks like a good start for another project for you.

I picked up a basket case awhile back when I first saw a thread here and everyone was making such a big deal about it. I thought it was cool then and it kinda snowballed. Have 6 I think now and working out some kinks with a runner.

If you get a chance and wanna measure up the outdrive braces that would be awesome. If you can post it in here that would work too

I rebuilt one about a year ago. Oldrc was very helpful with parts. I'm not a fan of belleville washers though.

Funny story, I e-mailed a hobby shop in Pennsylvania asking if they still had the XX4 body listed on their website. Totally forgot about it and about six months later, I got a response. He still had the body, so I bought it.

I saw your thread and yours turned out great! I found a new body and wing and a few other things. I will collect some more parts and hardware and i was looking at the lunsford titanium screw kit but its not cheap.

They are addictive

Tough Belts seems to be selling Nylon Faced Neoprene belts similar to the Bando Belts on the 22-4.
That's basically your only source for xx4 belts now.. If you someone selling legit xx4 belts, only consider ones pkgd in newest TLR packaging headers.. They will be the last run of xx4 belts that Dyno Dan place an order for ~4yrs ago.

The original belts would self-destruct in their original packaging, inside of an unopened kit. I built a NIB Rally Weapon a few years back and the belts had decomposed, probably due to the old California air trapped inside. Things can be exposed to California for only so long before they begin to fall apart, just watch TMZ sometime for proof.

I miss brushed motors in that hazy, everything seemed better when I was a kid, kind of way.

Is there any of the other brand of threaded shock collars that fit the losi shocks besides the blue trinity ones?
