I like the combination of those transluscent shocks and the glassfibre parts (and you know I don't care the least bit about era correctness ;) )
Yes, the top shaft came with the A&L kit, but I had to find a newer style (Jrx Pro) gear for it because the Jrx2 uses a one-piece topshaft. Thanks for the kind words ED  I'll have a Belgian beer for you :P

This project is changing and I'm revamping it as I find new parts for it. It's not yet finished as I have a few ideas in mind to complete it, but I've been looking for a MIP tranny (God I love MIP parts) for it for at least five years and finally put an end to the crazy hunt. I find myself extremely lucky being able to find a NIP one (THANK YOU Bob), that was beyond my hope, but over the years I found patience always pays off in this hobby. So here it is still bagged in 20 plus years old air. I will build it as soon as I know I have some spare hours as I would like to enjoy building it carefully as if I was going to race it.

I will have another surprise soon for this baby. In the mean time, I added some MIP shock cartridges, Hammad Guman alloy shock collars and shock mounts, an A&L front shock tower (I would like to find a rear black one, hint, hint) and a MIP battery pad that I still need to peel and stick. I was ready to shoot big ammo for a JRX2 lot that recently appeared on eBay and had the Lunsford trailing arm kit. Unfortunately, someone grabbed it up before the auction ended.

I recently contacted Lunsford about these kits and Barb Lunsford told me that they had none of them left. In fact they produced around 200 of them in total according to her and they never sold very well. They had a huge stock left some years ago but learned they dumped them all in the trash

Anyway, let the pics do the talking now 8)

Took some time this weekend to tear down the 20 years' old package and build this awesome transmission. This must be the smoothest diff I ever built for any car. Note that the thrust plates and balls are here replaced by a sealed ball bearing and it works quite good I must say.

I still do not understand why these trannies are so rare as the RC10 version (which is a bit older) can be found really easily. Maybe it was because it was released a bite late in the Jrx2/Jrx Pro era and later models had much better transmissions?

The contents (note the MIP 4-10 sticker sheet  ):

The complete diff assembly:

Gear box internals (the diff ball bearing read "SINGAPORE"):

The gear box before being closed:

The slipper assembly is a work of art too, pads look to be made of some sort of plastic/nylon:

I'm having a big dilemma about the shocks as I just can't decide what color they should be (standard light blue, dark grey hard coated or black hard coated). I would love them black to match the motor plate and the black plastic parts, but I'm not sure whether the black Losi hard coated shocks were ever made with the right size for a Jrx2 with standard shock towers. Can anyone help me out? Losi gurus? I know MIP made some for the Losi cars, but these are pretty elusive and like hens teeth...

Made some progress today! It's already late here, light is not very good but you get the idea. The Tecna's were an unexpected bonus and needed a good cleaning and servicing urgently, quite a lot of polishing work and elbow grease involved at that stage lol! Pretty close to the end of this project and I must say it was quite fun for me to gather and assemble the parts for this quite unique car. I would love to add a Lunsford trailing arm kit to it, but these seems ever elusive. I might make/have made a custom one, we'll see... Next steps are mounting a JG front body mount on the RPM front bulkhead, rewiring the ESC, servo and motor and last but not least painting a body that matches the blue/black/yellow/white theme. Stay tuned!

Love looking at this car! I'm not a huge chrome/metal wheel fan, but it is a very cool JRX2...

Yup, as our "Ultima guru" said these are CRP shock collars, I mainly took these because they matched the MIP trans. As soon as I installed it on the previous version with HG clear shocks and collars, I didn't like the result, especially with the neon yellow of the old A&L steering bellcranks that I also replaced with the re-ones Daryl recently offered and which now match the CRP collars and the MIP case. Along this project, I learned how hard comparatively to the RC10 it is to find old options for the JRx2, or at least the combinations are much more restricted. I am now considering dyieing the Novak stuff black to calm it down a bit, just not sure if the labels on the cases should be removed before the bath or not.
