I acquired this via Facebook. Talked with him some, and found he only ran it a few times. From the looks of it, it definitely hadn't been run much. The belts look new. From the pictures, you can see a couple of the tires are dry rotted and cracked. Might be able to fix them for display, but good thing is they aren't glued to the rims! Only thing that bugs me is no rear wing mounts and anti roll bar setup..

Ive always wanted to do the Masami Worlds '89 replica within reason. But I also want to run it. If I can get another 870c/YZ10 I can do one in Masami colors and then a tribute to my YZ10 that I stupidly sold I think in early 2000s to a gent in Australia. It had RPM front bulkhead, RPM arms and a custom top plate. If anyone here remembers, please send a picture of it! :D I got my only 4wd win in Jacksonville, NC on the oval there when they ran 4wd stock and 2wd mod together.

Any tips or tricks for a runner? I plan on longer front arms, with different rear arms. Will order some from Sabula tech and shapeways as well as Jcracing rims.

the jc racing wheels for yokomo won't fit this car exactly. You will need wider rear hubs, but the fronts with the longer arms will be close to stock.

I thought it was just the front I would need to worry about? I have NIP ZC 432 for long SUS arms and ZC433 I can try.

Is DB01 swingshafts still doable for this and would B44 series front or rear wheels work? they look close to the HPI used in stickboy's video.

If I can remember correctly, with the standard rear arms, you need +7mm per side. I don't know the yoke universal numbers off the top.of my head. If they are the later version, if you get wider rear arms that should work. Wth the fronts, I think If you run in the 'wide' position, they are too narrow by only about 2mm.

Well, i finally got around to getting more Masami parts. I saw the Vintage RC chassis set on ebay, plus a 3d printed front and rear bulkhead on ebay made locally (mike96?) and got the robinson gear adapter. Ordered a set of JC racing front and rear arms. ORdered shapeways caps, lipo tray and masami rear RC10 hubs with 3 deg toe in.

Problem is, i still havent found a viable solution to the universals. I played around with the TRF501 setup for modern wheels up front, but would rather have the hubs for the 89 worlds look.

Those bulkheads are molded nylon not 3d printed. They came in yr4 kits.

Ahh, thats why it was nice plastic. Plus the front does not fit flat. But i was able to use 2-56 cap screws instead of the hard to find right now longer metric ones that arent phillips head....

They fit flat but they have a notch in the front for the yr4 bumper to go between chassis and bulkhead instead of the underside if the chassis.

Here is the rolling chassis. Still more to do and update all that I've done. I would still like a full set of long Yoke universals F/R , but Ive got the DB01 and will see how i can utilize the stock wheel adapters. I will say, as i built it, especially when i put the rear white 3D printed arms on, it really became unique i feel. Now that its all together, plus painted and decals, it is soooo cool to look at! Just like my Cliff Lett RC10T, it just strikes me as awesome. Neither is perfect examples, but still sooo cool!

Electronics installed. Fired it up and no issues. Scooted on garage floor and carpet, no problems so far, will check driveshafts at wheels. Reedy 13t Mr M. Might be a few tweaks, but will go over list of parts before i put RC10 worlds rere shocks on and make sure wheel driveshaft combo works to run it on track.

Yeah Racing DB01 TRF501 front universals all around. In the rear, these are inside RPM rear hub carriers and fit just about perfect in the outdrives. I tried the RC10 hubs for metric bearings from shapeways, but the bones fit way inside the outdrives. If as mentioned in another thread someone is making 422 universals, i should be able to use the RC10 hubs again.

About those universals... I have found these:
https://www.yeahracing.com/g45-universal-steel-swing-shaft-for-tamiya-df03-tt02b-df03-015v2-00026617?search=universal&description=true
They are for DF03 but should be very similar if not identical to the DB01 parts (70mm dogbones).
My concern is about the axles: I measured the original 870c axles, and they are around 19mm from the bearing shoulder to the end.
It looks to me that the Tamyia axles are shorter more toward 15mm, which could become a problem when fitting the hubs.
