Two weeks on a rebuild and my Hybrid Mid just ran its maiden run; its first run in over 15 years!

Feel free to read all about it at:

And the best part... not a single trip to the hobby shop!

This is what you call a basket case:

Rebuilt car on the scales weighing in under the ROAR required minimum weight. This is configured for stock class 4WD w/ a 6-cell NiCD pack.

Unique Kyosho dual chaindrive ball differential:

This is how the car has been stored for nearly 15 years. The rebuild has restored and even improved on what was already a nice race car.

Very nice car the mystery car you talk of is most likely an AYK pro radiant or boost the shocks are I'm sure of it . I have a pro radiant and its a two chain four wheel drive buggy. I love the concept of this car there's not another one like it and that is very cool thanks for the post. :D :D

Defiantly a PRO Radiant that's a pro body you have on it and the pro or the boost were the only radiants with orange arms like you said in your blog

True, *our Radiants had the one way front axles and mid engine. The only thing that wasn't there was the bottom plate/battery tray.

*A race partner and I bought 3 Radiants. One was for spare parts. My Radiant was "borrowed" and ended up at a pawn shop, imagine that! Now I am curious if it is still there 15-someodd years later.

The Radiant definitely inspired the Hybrid Mid. Those two 7T chain cogs came from those cars. I also liked the double o-rings on the shocks. One of those shocks stayed leak-free for all these years... pretty impressive!

Nice looking project. That thing is sweet. Like how you did the chain shields. Gives me an idea for my Spider TF2 buggy conversion.
