Most important thing is it will prevent the motormount plate from getting bent too quick.

I don't have a whole lot to update on this build. I've done some stuff to it, but it's kinda been on the back burner. But i do have a question that someone may be able to help me out with.

I'm a little hung up on front wheels for this thing due to the bearing size. So I stumbled across these Tamiya TRF-201 front wheels:

http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXABZX&P=SM

Does anyone know if these take a standard 5x11 bearing? I'm assuming they do. I figured I could pick up a pair of these CRP front axles and I should be in good shape.

Actually, you can slide that 8mm outer bearing right into an associated wheel made for a 5/16 flanged too if it helps

Looking at the TRF201 manual here http://www.tamiya.com/english/rc/manuals.htm shows the 201 having 5x10 front wheel bearings... so as long as it's a 5mm axle, you should be right, just get 1050s instead of 1150s - raid your Kyosho stocks.

I actually did that messing around, but I'm wanting to use 2.2 wheels/modern tires and the AE wheels are for 3/8 bearings.

Lately i like using u1457w from shumacher with 840 beaings and stock axles. They are narrower and 2.1 but perfect for staggered ribs.
Durango also had usable wheels, but the bearings are spread too far apart for the crp axles. Let us know how the trf ones work out: Always good to have a more current option.

Jason, what you need are custom aluminum axles what will fit SAE bearings.

Tamiya has an option set of axles for the TRF201 that fit SAE bearings.

That's a tamiya Baja Champ from '98.
Here's another one with different livery, mounted on my latest ultima build: http://www.rc10talk.com/viewtopic.php?f=30&t=37607&start=15

By the way: I have bought another of the sliding steering racks from Custom works not long ago. The quality has really gone up quite a bit. They look identical, but the old one I had to put in a lot of work to get it working smoothly. The new one works perfect straight out of the bag.

Me... again

Yokomo b2-821 takes 5x10 bearings and is narrower than the durango 210 wheels where the bearings are located.
(NOT b2-821HW or b2-821HY!)

Well, I got back on this today. I spent a lot of yesterday trying to straighten up my R/C area.......get some stuff organized, etc. Now that my main workbench is about the cleanest it's been in years  I thought I'd mess around with this a little bit, so on to the front end.

So I wanted to use axles that would make wheel choice easier. So I decided i wanted to try a stock rc10 aluminum inline axle. The portion that goes into the Ultima knuckle is too small of a diameter. Also, the kingpin hole is also too small. So i cut some strips from a soda can to wrap around the axle for some added girth (the women like that  ) to give it a tighter fit. I also had to drill it out to fit the larger kingpin. To do this the right way, I need to have new axle made. One day that will happen, but for now this works. :)

Front track width is dead on to my Jrx-Pro with old school wheels so I'm happy. But if I wanted to use b4 wheel, I'll need longer ones.
