Kyosho Triumph Truck

Post by _timmy_ »

This turned up in the post today, £45 ebay buy. I bought it with the intention of turning it back to a buggy, but actually quite like it as is.
Just wondering if its a proper conversion kit, or home made. It looks proper, i've attached photo's of the front and rear body mounts. Rear shock mount doesn't have the center body mount from the buggy and it doesn't look like it's been removed by hand. The body looks the same as the Pro XRT.
Anyway, heres the pics....

Front body mount looks like a modified LXT piece to me. Also think that the body is an LXT. Cool truck.

When I first saw the front body mount, my first thought was that it was an LXT mount as well. I also agree that its a nice looking truck.

I'd revert it back to a buggy as well...the Triumph was a great buggy and there aren't too many around...and that's a killer deal too!

No reverting! If you read around they were really not that wel received or that good. And more important there are definitely less triumph trucks than buggies on this globe.

I thought the Triumph only came as a buggy, and that this was a mod. Was there a Triumph truck?

I'll +1 keeping it a truck.

Until the Pro-XRT the best truck Kyosho offered to racers was an Ultima II with monster truck offset wheels. A converted Triumph would've been totally legitimate and likely a better performer.

I'm pretty sure there was never a Triumph truck. I think he meant to keep it as a truck since it's not a common thing to see them converted to one.

You would think that those huge tires would be hard on the belt system. I personally would change it back to a car. As a truck it looks like all the others but as a car it looks like a Triumph.

If geared properly, it won't be a problem. If you increase or decrease the tire diameter significantly on a car, you'll need to reduce or increase the pinion gear accordingly. I had to do that for my CYANide Optima (onroad conversion with smaller diameter HPI VTA wheels & tires) and my Barney Optima (larger-size 2.2" Axial Rockster wheels and Pro-Line Caliber tires). It helps that I created a gear ratio calculator that uses all the important variables to help determine an ideal rollout ratio. 8)
