Scorpion hop up parts are uncommon, why?

Post by tiger1 »

SRB got tons of hop up and after market support

Scorpion has very very few.

Any reason why??

Well, I can give you one man's opinion but it won't be worth much.
I think hop up parts are scarce for all Kyosho cars and it could be related to volume. Tamiya has sold many times more product than Kyosho so demand for parts is also greater. Thus, the aftermarket manufacturers simply don't receive requests for Scorpion go-fast parts.
As for the rere Scorpions, Kyosho has offered tons of hop-ups. Not sure if these parts will fit the vintage cars.

kyosho was already a better design, so less was needed

(I don’t believe this but it should get people riled up!)
It's time to stand up to the bully. Support the companies that support the industry, not the ones that tear it down. Say no to Traxxas

I thought it was because attempting to get a Scorpion to compete with a Frog was futile.

Because the RC10 came out
Small window of time for the Scorpion to be competitive as it was sandwiched between the SRB's and the RC10.

Hmm...I couldn't even get my souped-up Frog to compete with my brother's stock Marui Galaxy.

Fix'd

The Kyosho Option House offered cater locks, CB shocks, and a ball diff (though that might have been only for team drivers). At least three other companies made after-market ball diffs. MIP also made an aluminum spool + final drive gears and caster locks. MIP trailing arms were also easily adapted. MRP and Pro-Line offered injection molded arms. CRP made universals, rear arm pivots, wheel adapters, front arm beam, front end braces, and shock towers. Parma offered bumpers, shocks and, shock towers. JG also had bumpers as well as aluminum cages and a rear plate to mount the original MIP transmission. I don't remember who made the rear mono-shock kit but I think it was Thorp.

Sure, there weren't RC10 levels of hop-ups, but the Scorpion wasn't too far behind the SRB.
