That Champagne ano looks good! 8)

I'm not sold on the rims though - are they proline's, or those machined ones? I know it's a period design and I have some in the parts box myself, but their design is "so geometric". what's wrong with the Jav's (or re-re optima's) twister wheels? :?:

Yeah, the wheels are prolines. I like the Schumacher tires better then the squishy rere tires too. Plus I like how the holes in the wheels kind of match the holes in the sides of the roll bar/body.

Nice javelin. I have to pick up a re-re orange cage and rear support post for my body less parts bin build. Love the optima series!!

Would be nice to have the cash to ano my dull vintage chassis too much time polishing them burnt myself out with my Salute

Wow, the car looks awesome! And, I recognized the Schumacher tires and I actually like the wheels (for the very reasons you've pointed out) and was about to ask you what they were. Do you know if they are still being manufactured and if they're available anywhere?
It looks like you spent some time cleaning up the rough edges of those stamped aluminum pieces or... wait... are those actually CNC'd parts?
Anyway, the car looks stunning with special anno and white accents. Very nice!

Oh, I forgot to ask; why did you go with chain and not belt?

The Schumacher tires are still available on eBay. And if you go on the Schumacher website, you can still find a variety of tires also but I am not sure if the compound is the same as the old hard tires. I chose to go with chain drive just to keep it a little bit old school since the one I had “back in the day” was also chain drive.

Okay, thanks. I suspected the chain decision might be nostalgia related but wanted to ask you about it anyway. I reckon I'll go with a belt since this is the first Optima I've owned and I feel that it might be a bit more reliable. I guess we'll see.
Sorry, I was actually curious about the wheels (I have a small cache of similar Schumacher tires but unfortunately they really don't work well on my track). So, can we still buy those Proline wheels - were your set an ebay find perhaps? I may want to try some other 2" tires I have if the stock Javelin tires lack grip. I think the stock Javelin wheels may be 1.5" so I'm looking for alternatives.

Your car looks killer with those larger wheels. It's like resto-mod.

Yeah, the proline wheels are vintage but can still be easily found on eBay. These front Schumacher Tires I believe are 2.0 and the wheels are 2.1. It takes a little bit elbow grease to get them on but they look really good

Good choice going chain, i always liked the noisier sound of chain drive vs the silent running of the belt. Plus chain drive sounds more rough and out on the edge nowadays than belt does so it gives the nice feel.

I would also second the idea of a better lit pictures of your anodized chassis.

It goes against the grain for me to say it but that really looks too good to drive

Very nice build, I like how you personalized it. You definitely don't see a lot of white Javelins. 8)
