TRX-1 Scott Montgomery Replica

Post by Konich »

So I'm starting to do some research on doing a Scott Montgomery replica circa the 92 nats. I know he used a losi ball bearing steering crank but I'm unsure of the electronics. The most I could find is a Novak ESC, Peak motor, Airtronics radio, Orion batteries and Losi/Proline tires. Anyone know what steering servo he used? Novak M5 or M1c ESC? a Peak 15Q like the other Peak Drivers (Howart & Gonzales) were using?

Also anyone reproducing bodies?I have one color picture but does anyone know of any others?

Thanks in advance, I will keep this updated as the build goes on

try searching yourr rcca mag's before they are sold. They often put spec tables in their race reports.

Thats the only info I could find in RCCA covering the 92 Nats as listed in the race report, there just doesn't seem to be much info on Scott's car. It just list the electronics, motor, batteries, but no specific detail like on the other racer's cars :(

The only part I really need is a new body  That's been on e-bay for a little while

I think my biggest burden is going to be tracking down the appropriate electronics Scott ran :?

unlikely: most races in those days forbid ESC's with reverse

Well got a pretty good start with this e-bay grab! :D With 2 buggies and some parts I should have a near perfect trx-1 for a resto.

Great find Konich. I wish I kept the TRX-1 I had. Damn those cars were HOT back in their day. I want one again now!

They should be delivered today! I'm trying to finish up my YZ10 resto so I can get started on these. One will be for sale in the BST section after I get one restored

Started racing carpet off road local here at a new track on wed. A young guy had his trx-1 out running. Buggy was in great shape. I had bought one new and got rid of it. I have enough for about 1/2 a buggy. That orig body still gets my vote for the ugliest shape in rc. il have to find the pics of my old painted body. Parachute pants graphics and all---I kinda miss that ugly old girl
