Build 5

Notes: The steering bellcrank comes with plastic bushings but I opted for some Avid bearings instead. The shocks went on without any problem, and are nice and smooth. I will have to replace the "Slash" oil with some lighter weight oil eventually.

I had reservations about the strength of the fiberglass chassis. It became kinda floppy after I started to bolt the pieces on it, so I mocked up the front stiffener. It does a very good job of tying everything together and makes the whole assembly ultra rigid. Hopefully you will never have to replace the steering link from the servo as you would need to remove this brace to get to it.

Nice car, though I've never been a huge Traxxas fan... I would cut a chassis and reinforcement plates in woven graphite if it were mine 8)

Update: I ran into another piece that was missing. The slider shaft joints (the metal spiders that make the driveshaft joint) were missing. I have both the white and black sliders in sealed baggies, but no joints. Still readily available, just got to wait for them to get here from liquid rc. I guess I can turn my attention to turnbuckles. :x

Build 6

Notes: Nothing out of the ordinary here. The white outdrives on the tranny were a PITA to get the spiders in. I wish Traxxas would have made the hex on the turnbuckles a little wider. Seems like adjustments on these things would round the hex off quickly as they are.

One other note: The exploded view suggests the rear camber links bolt to the back side of the hub. I went in front, as it just seems more logical. Close to the shock spring, but still plenty of room to clear.

Build 7

Notes: Everything basically is together now. Ultra rigid chassis as I mentioned before. The battery strap was a missing piece out of my kit and all I have been able to find is a black one. If anybody can line me out with a white one, let me know!

Just wondering why the black arms and not the white?

Looks great either way! Would love to find one nib or new built.

Trying to stay true to the boxart idea, that's all. The paint will replicate boxart as well. It isn't a bad paint job at all... I plan on going through the paint process as well.

They came that way out of the box. I've got one as well and it's the same, with the only difference from Brandon's being it came with a white front bumper....... a hard piece to find these days.
I am not here cause I am playing photographer and on my mountain bike.
