Shodog's MIP 4wd SRB project

Post by shodog »

I've had these thoughts swimming around my head for a couple of years. I've always wanted to combine a MIP 4-10 kit with a fully hopped up Rough Rider SRB chassis. I needed to do some R&D with parts to see if my idea would work. So before I start ripping into new parts packages, I took apart my MIP RC10 and MIP Scorcher and test fit some parts and it looks like it will work. I need to add about 60mm to the width of even the RCH wide track front tubes.

Here is the body I plan to use. It's from a previous hopped up SRB build. The chassis was assimilated into other projects or sold off but I kept the body.

Image

I may need to do some judicious trimming depending on which roll cage I go with

Image

RCH Front suspension that I had annodized red

Image

Rear suspension is an MIP trailing arm kit with MIP drive shafts and CRP axles

Image

I have some vintage Kyosho dampers from the circut 1000 buggies with some CRP collars.

Image

Transmission is a Hot trick transmission mount and a MIP transmission with ball diff and 4WD outdrives.

Image

Of course a set of Tecnacrafts to finsh off the red theme

I hope you bought that entire hobby shop out!! I cannot believe the amount of great parts of yours I've seen with those price tags!

I know nothing about SRB's, but it looks like a stellar build so far!

Hey ShowOFF, I mean er, Shodog ( ), that is some dead sexy stuff right there. Your builds always amaze me! I actually just browse your gallery when I'm blue  .

But all joking aside, is this the MIP cable drive SRB of yours that you took apart, or another build?

The red theme is going to look great. I always like that you use these rare parts (and show us) instead of keeping them as shelf parts/cars.

This drives me crazy Jim,

I have almost exactly the same build ready to go with all NOS parts.......just need that darned rear MIP gearbox casing ;) .... wonder who has one of them!! :(

Looks like its going to be another killer ride mate.

Hopefully I will get that casing one day - and we can have "twins across the oceans" :)

Cheers mate

I'd love to see one of these things running, or even own one one day.

I'm halfway there with my SRB, just need the 4x4 bits.. I wish! Pffft...

Any more pics of the progress?

Cheers

Kilroy
