Solid front axle for 2wd Scorcher/Blackfoot

I have always been a fan of the Sand Scorcher and Blackfoot bodies, and I've seen many variations on how to get wheels tucked under the fenders on both, I really didn't want to make a 4wd Scorcher, or buy a whole other ORV kit just to get the Blackfoot body....

So I'm making my own frame and 4 link front and rear set up....

Here's where I started:

THE FRONT END....

I added the links to the front end, using m3 threaded rod and Traxxas rod ends, and mocked up a servo...

pretty cool setup, looking forward to seeing how you get the shocks squared away. Should drive much like a 2wd crawler.

yeah, i think i would do the same.....

Also, I think I'd like to make a suggestion before you get much farther. With the servo attached to the chassis, you are gonna get some crazy bump steer out of that car. I think you would be better off mounting the servo to the front axle assembly.

I agree,

There are a lot of challenges ahead in this build, specially with the front suspension, I already tried mounting some shocks on it, and it doesn't quite want to articulate....

I got a crawler recently and it came with extra shock mounting loops and other things that will make it a bit easier....

A cantilever would be great, but I'm not sure if I can handle it without buying more stuff, I kinda want to stay within what I already have on hand, which is a lot of "junk", I want to justify having it all, by building something out of it😂😂

Going in a new direction with the front end, TLT-1 axle housing, without the internals, just the housing.....

Progress:

I lost my 6.5 inch width, and it's now 8.5 front, and almost 9 in the rear, I'm going to fit some Tamiya Suzuki Jimny wheels and tires, if the front and rear track match up, I might make this into a Blackfoot bodied Bigfoot....

To get to the width that makes me happy, I had to cut down the tilt-1 axle housing, and finagle, a new front axle, thankfully all the holes lined up with the aluminum plates that I had from Lowe's....

No it's 197mm front track, with those 1.9 wheels on, it might narrow up girder with smaller wheels and narrower tires, my goal is to ge this to fit under a Blackfoot body....

A bit of progress:

I flipped the lunchbox tranny around and 4 linked it to the chassis, just to get an idea if I need a different frame and shocks....it looks like I'm going to need shorter shocks, maybe 70mm, and a set of 1.55 wheels are on the way...

Still have to link up the front end and shorten the rear links, as it sits right now, I'd only have 2" links....
