Hirobo ZERDA thread. Post your pics, hints & tips.

Post by Bormac »

If you own a Zerda (or have owned) why not post up your pics and share hints, tips, mods etc.. on how you like to build or set your car up.
I'm sure there are plenty of great builds out there so please share yours with the rest of us.

I'm far from an expert with the Zerda but I am very fond of this car. I have owned 3 and driven one many times and made some small but efficient mods along the way.

#1. Dampers. I have found the kit standard items ok for the shelf but not to my liking out on the track. I started to experiment with a few different types but what I really wanted was something that would be in keeping with the factory 'black ano alloy' look so I ended up with a set of AYK Pro Radiant/Boost shocks. They are very smooth and fit well once I drilled out the ball stud holes to suit M2.6.

#2. Shock towers. The factory pressed metal items are very flimsy and bend the minute a breeze passes over them. I opted to beef mine up with some black graphite sheet. Makes a world of difference.

#3. Wheels and tyres. While I love the look of the factory wheels I prefer the Optima 'Sand Super' tall spikes to the Hirobo tyres. These are a direct swap and look great for the shelf. For track use I run 2.2" rims with more modern tyres. There are various options out there but it may take some small mods to adapt axles/hubs.

#4. Retaining the little cross pieces for your roll cage. I simply drilled a hole at each end and hold them in place with cable ties. A pretty simple and easy fix. No more searching for these tiny yet important cage members out on the race track each time you run it.

ZERDA driver dolls by BUGLE

Post by Bormac »

A while ago I asked Thomas if he would be able to help out with the reproduction of the orginal Zerda driver figure. I left 2 slightly used drivers with him and the result was fantastic. The lexan is much thicked than the very fragile factory item. The molding is great and I'd recommend anyone looking to make contact with Thomas (AKA- Bugle)

I love it when a car is modified within the limits of what could have been done back in the days, even if it was never done your way. So five stars for your rebuilt Zerda Jason
Cheers

Hi Lars,
No it is not. I was interested in the alloy arms and this was the first I had seen like this.

All these mods are from 85'

Central motor mount, battery support with changing position, and short wheelbase with rear arm return.
Just the upper deck is from my inspiration
and rear shock mount more large,
