RETRO R/C wrote:Yeah - thats the one alright - I must admit to dropping it like a hot turd on a summers day when he mentioned how much he wanted for it. I stopped inspecting it as a potential buy right then and there.

My Mustang was flying at the last vintage meeting - until I cooked the motor. I think Thomas was happy about that though - cause I had to run the MIP Legend then.

The mustang always worked better with a bit more "öomph" under it - as it was a bit of a slug to drive (read "slow to respond to inputs"). Because it was so stable, it seemed to handle the extra power better. Looking forward to running mine again - that scalpel shell has really grown on me.

Have fun tomorrow, it will be a good day I am sure.

Cheers

I had one of these back in the day....a small importer brought a few kits in, and his son ran one in the stock 4wd class. The thing blew everything away because of its 2 speed transmission. There was quite the uproar over it as it was killing the optimas at the time. So instead of outlawing it we "rearranged" the track. Put in lots of short sections, added turns and more bumps. That certainly leveled the playing field!
When I owned mine it was a single speed (importer wouldnt let go of any 2 speeds  ) and wow was it ever fragile. I guess mine was built on a friday! If I remember I gave it away or traded it off for something. Now 25 years later I guess I should have kept it! Theres so much rc stuff I wish I still had. But what did I know then..... 8)
Of course now If I should come across any bits for this I will let you all know, same goes for any other vintage.

I caught up with James briefly this morning to finalise a trade and took my camera along for a couple of pics.
Although now sold, James allowed me the opportunity to snap a few pics of all our PB cars together in a group shot before the white Maxima and Mustang are to be shipped off overseas to their new owners.

What a sight!

.....and here are the spares I got along with the orange and yellow Maxima. Im currently packing up house (and still plugging away at the computer-LOL) and wanted to get a few snaps of the new spares which will join my inventry. When Im settled in Sydney I will strip down the Maxima and give it a full once over. When I'm done I will see what others need to finish their projects so if there is something you need please let me know and I will see what I can do to help you out.
Cheers-Jason.

Sheesh- 3 seperate posts in one day! LOL!
I feel very privaliged to have picked up James's Maxima in todays trade for my Bruiser. I think it was a square deal and even deal as the truck he ended up with was in particularly good condition. Anyway these pics are of the car as it left the track back on the last vintage meeting at Ryde/Sydney. The fibreglass sections under the battery mounting area have me baffled. Its the first time ive seen these but they look genuine and James had them on his other maxima also. We figured they were to protect the battery from side collision damage.
Once Im settled in Sydney I'll be stripping this car down to give it a good clean and make sure everything is as it should be before its next run at the race track.
Cheers-Jason.

Jay I will have an order in soon. The move to Sydney is for financial reasons ( i'll have a full time career again) and it will put me back in the good graces with my bank (and every other damn financial institution).
