First RC10 Team, it's going to be a racer!

Post by Headling »

Hi guys, normally a schumacher man on the vintage side of things but seeing all the nice RC10's on here I had to get one on my own!

Asked a few friends at the local club if they knew of any RC10's about and through a friend on Facebook managed to get this car:

The plan is to strip and clean and peroxide the plastic parts and add B4 threaded shocks and convert to B4 wheels and use a B4 slipper and fiberlyte towers
If in doubt go flat out!

Couple if newbie questions, is it a CE car?

Any unusual parts/mods??

Think I'll have to look at up grading the steering bell cranks but what is a good option??

Looks like a Team car to me, with the hard-anodized shocks and the black chassis. There isn't a bad RC10, but that's definitely one of the better choices.

It's a team car, with front CE rims, is that front shock tower thick, or is just me.

Thanks guys, just changed the thread title to Team car

Had a look at the front tower and it's a home made job! These will be replaced by carbon versions.

It's got a carbon purple gearbox brace which was a nice suprise.

Some more questions! Lol

Is there any repro RC10 shells available to buy in the UK??

Does anyone do nice Ali bell cranks for the steering??

Way hey - I won a team car on ebay last week so watching this closely.

I've bought two bodies from Tower Hobbies - sadly they are currently sat in customs awaiting charges (as usual, I get caught every time i buy from US sellers !). In hindsight perhaps i should have gone to TeamBlueGroove as I've bought 7 or 8 Tamiya bodies from them in the past without customs issues. I don't think Kamtec do RC10 shells so we are a bit stuck in blightly :(

Cool! Glad to see a fellow Uk RC10 'er!

I'll do a nice build guide on the car, got my 8e to finish first then I'll crack on with this.

I'll get a shall from TBG, I like the shell that's on it , any ideas on what type it is??

Looks like a Mirage, was very popular on UK tracks in the 90's.

Check my UK Rc10 rebuild posts, there are lots of links to places with RC10 parts in the UK.

Thanks for the info on the Mirage shell, I will check TBG e bay shop to see if they do one.

I am just about to order the fiber lyte towers, not sure what ones to order??

The RC10 early cars versions?

http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk/fl/cars/associated/rc10ear.html

Or the 94 versions??

http://www.fibre-lyte.co.uk/fl/cars/associated/rc1094.html

I am thinking early version but wanted to be sure first, btw will be using B4 shocks on the car if that makes any difference

If you want to keep it (sort of) stock, then the early ones, otherwise the later ones, which are for the worlds car.....My thread has some picture of the early ones on a gold pan if you want to see what they look like.

The fitment is exactly the same for early or worlds shock towers, so really it's up to you what you want to fit.

The B4 shocks are different lengths then your stock team car shocks so you will need appropriate shock towers to use the B4 shocks. The team cars were .71 front and 1.32 rear and the B4 is .89 front and 1.18 rear. These guys have your towers you need. http://rccarbonworks.com/store/index.php?route=product/category&path=20_36

Are these a good option for the steering bell cranks?

Any other parts needed to fit them to my car??

That is nice or you can go here and get an A&L kit with or without bearings. http://www.vintageteamaandl.com/
